Hi I'm David

I grew up in Utah, I speak Mandarin Chinese, I am an international businessman, I have a wonderful wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated from BYU with a degree in Marketing. I've been married for almost a year to my beautiful wife. I played the trumpet with the BYU Chamber Orchestra, BYU Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BYU Young Ambassadors. I served a mission to Taiwan (ROC) and loved it! I am the oldest of 5 siblings. My wife and I hope to find an opportunity to move to China for the next few years.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long family history in the Mormon church, and for that I am grateful. I've attended church every Sunday since I was born and have always tried to keep the commandments and follow the teachings of Christ and the prophets. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and served a mission for my church when I was 19. Most recently, my wife and I were married in one of our church's beautiful temples where we were "sealed for time and all eternity" (We, as a church, believe that marriage should not be "till death do us part" but that we as families will be together, beyond death, forever if we live the commandments of God.) I have faced my share of adversity and have had previous bouts with doubt and questioning in the past but I write this today with a desire to share with any who read this that I feel happy, safe, secure, confident and extremely optimistic about life and my future because of my beliefs. I am definitely not perfect, I have many faults, and I am sure there are many in my life that could easily point them out, but I have found that as I live my life the way I am taught in the scriptures, when I actively seek to be charitable to my fellow men, and when I seek to love as Christ did, I feel a light in my life that comforts me and illuminates the path ahead. Being a Mormon has had a tremendous positive influence on my life that I cannot deny.

How I live my faith

I currently serve my church as the primary chorister which means I teach gospel songs to the children in our ward. Our primary consists of mostly 4-8 year olds, which means I use lots of simple games, and activities to keep them excited and engaged in learning. The songs I help them learn are mostly about learning to choose right over wrong, learning about scriptural prophets, and most importantly learning about Jesus and his example. Here are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs, "I Am a Child of God" I am a child of God, And he has sent me here, Has given me an earthly home With parents kind and dear. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday. I am a child of God, And so my needs are great; Help me to understand his words Before it grows to late. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday. I am a child of God. Rich blessings are in store; If I but learn to do his will I'll live with hime once more. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday. I am a child of God. His promises are sure; Celestial glory shall be mine If I can but endure. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday.
