Hi I'm Travis

Im a member of a family which has 9 brothers and 8 sisters, Im an Eagle scout, Im a Mormon

About Me

Ive grown up in a huge family, with great brothers and sisters. i have a great love for the game of basketball and for most sports. i love to be active and well just being outside. My goal since i was a kid has always been to become a Math or Science teacher at the high school level as well as being a coach. I have recently graduated from High school, as an honor student, and will be attending BYU-idaho. Some fun facts about me are that i love to sing, even though i can't, I'm a huge reading fan, and i love the fall and winter. i have been lucky to visit places like Nauvoo, Illinois, Niagra falls, along with several trips to utah for ski and church trips. Im a die hard Georgia Bulldawg fan and im also a roller coaster junkie. And oh yea i love mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel fortunate to have been born into the church along with the rest of my family. I have chosen to continue within my faith because countless times within my life i have seen my life blessed by living my life according to the standards of the church. I admit that sometimes throughout my life i have had doubts about my faith and wither or not it was actually true but every time that i think about it i always go back to Joseph Smith and the vision he had in the sacred grove and i know that if that's true then everything about the book of mormon and the rest of the things which are taught are true. More important i know that there is a loving and caring Heavenly Father who knows each one of us personally and i also know, through personal experiences, that through the atonement of Christ everyone, no matter your circumstances, can become clean again. It is only through Christ can we be saved and there is NO other way. Jesus Christ is my friend and my savior, my God and my king. i know that if i turn to him with whatever problems may happen with my life that he will carry my burdens. I know these things to be true, because i have experienced them personally. This church is my whole life and means everything to me and i know i would not be the person i am today without it.

How I live my faith

Within my church i have had the privilege of serving in many service projects, one of which happened when my hometown was hit with a tornado. Shortly after, our church sent all those that were able to help out with those in the need for about 2-3 months. I have also obtained my eagle scout award and was able to help clean and fix up a park near my church. Within my church i help teach the kids, from ages 8-9, within the primary. i constantly go out and help teach with the missionaries within the church. I also was able to go seminary for four years were i learned more about the scriptures which will better prepare for my mission which I am preparing for. I have been called to serve in the Chile, Osorno mission and will be leaving january 16 and will not return for two years. i also help within my church by helping with home teaching, where another member of the church and myself go to many different families within the church to help make sure all there needs are met.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

A huge question that i have been asked many times, especially while living in the south, is that do Mormons think the Bible is the word of God. That answer is obviously YES!!! we constantly use many different stories and teachings from the Bible and many, if not most, of the standards in the church come from the Bible. Many believe that Those in the church only read the Book of Mormon, however we believe that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are essential for living a happy and righteous life. You cant have one without the other, as is says in 2 Peter 1:20-21 The Bible is the word of God and came from writings of holy men of God as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost. It is through that same process in which the Book of Mormon came about and how we know that the Book of Mormon along with the Bible are holy scripture. Through these two books anyone can come to know Jesus Christ and his teachings. Show more Show less
