Hi I'm Dale

I work in the computer sciences, I love my family, the outdoors and playing cowboy when I can, and I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I’m a husband and father of 4 girls and 1 son. We’ve lived and worked in Northern and Southern California and Idaho. I love the outdoors; kayaking, backpacking, climbing (not too technical), fishing and horse packing. We raise horses and a few steers. I develop very large database applications for work and have owned a private software development and consulting business. I’ve been happily married for over 30 years and we love the next generation of grandchildren that have started coming into the family. Both my wife and I are fortunate enough to have healthy parents still living and we are surrounded by terrific brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and their families – and we all get along and enjoy each other!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I have come to know, really know that it contains God’s plan of happiness. I know that it contains the fullness of Christ’s gospel, that it fills in the blanks that have been missing in the religions of the world, and that it provides a path to return to live again with our Heavenly Father. I have received a perfect witness of its truthfulness. I know that within this church is the restored and perfect priesthood that was held by the ancient apostles of the New Testament and I have witnessed that power in my life and the lives of others. I have seen the miracles of priesthood power blessing people lives. I have also seen the effect of its authority in the direction of the restored church. I have also seen the power and blessings of the ordinances that have come from priesthood authority. I’m a Mormon because I know that there are living prophets and apostles. I have seen in a very really sense how revelation from Christ is given to those who direct the church, at both the general and local levels. One last reason is that I have seen how following this gospel changes people. They are different, they are happy, they have a glow about them, they are positive and cheerful, they have problems but the weight seems to be lifted. They are striving to be like Christ and I want to be around them.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the most valuable thing in my life. It brings happiness, direction, peace and hope to my life and to my family. I live my faith by serving my community and family. I serve in the community supporting efforts to feed the hungry, help teach people to raise their own food and learn how to rise above poverty. I have been a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America for many years and work with terrific young men. I have also supported the school system by serving for several years on the school board. Perhaps the biggest way I try to live my faith is by doing what I can to learn of Christ and then to become like He is. This means keeping the Sabbath day holy, attending church meetings, helping and supporting family, community and church members, trying to be kind to others, loving my neighbor, not speaking poorly of others, studying the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon and other scriptures that teach of Christ, and just doing my best to be a good person. I struggle like everyone else, but I can see that I’ve become a little more patient, a little less critical and a little better over the years.
