Hi I'm Porter Hartwig

I belong to the Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I live in Vancouver, Washington.

About Me

I went to Union High school and was a three sport athlete. I competed in Football, Baseball, and Mens Swimming. I also participated in concert band and played the tuba. The band I participated in got the oportuninty to perfom in the Music for All National Band Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. I also participated in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After I graduated I aquired a job in an HVAC company and have worked there since. I Recently got my Mission Call to Serve in the China Hong Kong Mission. I leave for the MTC on April 3rd and am preparing to serve the people of Hong Kong.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and grew up in the church but as most teenagers do question their parents they are put in situations that makes you either choose between going with what your parents have taught you your whole life or you have to go your seperate way. By taking the time to read the Book of Mormon and prayed to our father in Heaven to find out if it is true and if the book is true than everything taught in the gospel in true. Finding the truth in the gospel can only be done by yourself and have the faith that he will answer your question no matter what happens you can know for yourself.

How I live my faith

I have many oportunities to show my understanding of the gospel of Christ which is simply Faith in Christ and his atonement, Repentance, Babtism and enduring to the end. I currently work with the 12 and 13 year old young men in the church. I work with them in understanding their roles in the church and also by helping them with becoming better young men through scouting. I also have had the oportunity to serve by serving in various church orginizations in planning events like a pioneer trek on a spiritual and physical level. The oportunity to serve members of my Church always lifts me up.
