Hi I'm Ethan

I'm a New Mexican, a cowboy, a fly-fisherman, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently a graduate student at Mississippi State University soon to gradaute with a masters degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management. Growing up in New Mexico on a ranch between the Sangre De Cristo range and wide open plains gave me ample opportunity to appreciate our Heavenly Father's creations. I have always loved the thrill of being outside and seeing new places, and those experiences have shaped my life. I am the husband of a magnificent and beautiful girl, and a father of one wonderful little boy. I love my family and the life that God has given me and helped me to shape!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a mormon all my life. Some people have expressed to me that that is nothing to be proud of and reflects only a lack of curiosity and experimentation in the religion department of life. I have always respetfully disagreed. At my core I know that we are all children of our Heavenly Father and that we are imbued with this knowledge from the very beginning. An eagle without wings is still an eagle. The lack of wings does not change the essence of what he is, and the instinct to fly will never leave him. Likewise the instinct to communicate with our Father in Heaven is basic and powerful. During my life, I have communicated with my Father, and he has guided me through life. I am a mormon because God has told me that this is his church, his gospel and he wanted me to be a part of it! What a wonderful thing, to speak with not just God, but a Father in Heaven who has your best interests at heart! Why would I not be a mormon?

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a little bit of a better person each day. Some days I don't seem to make much progress (I may even go backwards a little), but my goal is for the overall trend to be upwards. I would like to think that I have internalized some of the principles classic books have taught me, and one of my favorites has been Charles Dickens' 'Great Expectations'.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Oh man. I get asked this all the time and my resounding answer is no! He was an awesome man, a respected prophet, and an important figure in the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. But we worship God the Father and hold Jesus Christ as our Saviour and pathway to the Father. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Nope. But us individuals can endorse people or parties and we are encouraged to be active in the community and our government! Show more Show less
