Hi I'm Julie

I'm from Lindon, Utah. I'm a musician, artist, and student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a student at Utah State University. I'm studying music therapy and loving it! I was born and raised a member of the church, but at times I took it for granted. My senior year of high school and my first semester of college, I was going to church and everything, but I was kind of just going through the motions and I really wasn't making a huge effort to choose the right. In October conference, the prophet announced a change in age for missionaries, elders and sisters. the age for sisters was lowered to 19. I didn't think it was a coincidence that I would be turning 19 in a few months. It took awhile, but I changed my life around and made the decision to serve a mission. Now, I couldn't be happier and I am preparing to serve the people of San Jose, California.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know it is true. Although I was born into this church, I still went through a conversion process. I believe that everyone does. When I was young, I would go to church just because my parents made me and I never really knew the reason why we did anything that had to do with church. During my teenage years, it became more known to me. I read the Book of Mormon several times and each time, grew a greater appreciation for it. I also came to an understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He didn't just die for our sins, He personally suffered for every single thing. But he didn't only feel the burdens, He also felt our joys and victories. Everything we can ever go through or feel, He has already gone through and felt; so we're never alone. There is always someone who understands. Now as I prepare for a mission, I have come to an absolute surety that this is the Lord's true church. And I want to shout it from rooftops! Christ loves all of us and He hears and answers our prayers. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being an example to others. Being kind and charitable is very important to being an example to others. Just one act of kindness seen by another can change someone's whole life. I've just been called as a full-time missionary and will leave to teach the gospel in a few months. I will be devoting my life to God for the next 18 months and I could not be more excited. Serving others has always been a favorite activity of mine!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Julie
A mission is a very personal decision for young people in the church. No one is forced to go, but everyone is encouraged. It's 100% a choice. Show more Show less
