Hi I'm Heather

I am a stay at home mom, a registered nurse, a lover of all things chocolate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I met the love of my life in college. After getting married and finishing school, I worked as a registered nurse. I loved every minute of my profession, and the many things I learned through my patients. After giving birth to my second child, I decided to become a stay at home mom. Although being a mom is in no way glamorous, it's the best thing and way I think I can affect society for good. And it brings me so much joy and teaches me new things everyday. I love to get together with friends, socialize, and all at the same time I enjoy being home with my kids and playing with them. I also really like to read a good book or watch a good TV show at night after the kids go to bed.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I wholeheartedly believe the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints is true. Although I was raised in the church, I really needed to know if it was real, for myself and not to rely on parents, friends, or family. I gained this knowledge throughout my entire life, it has been built upon line upon line and I personally do not have just one experience that stands out. Here are just a few reasons, I know it's true: By attending church each Sunday and feeling the Holy Ghost give me that warm, tingling feeling when we have talked about Joseph Smith's first vision or Jesus Christ, by attending early morning seminary where we studied the Bible and Book or Mormon and getting a good idea of what is being taught in the scriptures, to reading the entire Book of Mormon and at the end, praying with faith and sincerity to God to know if the book was true. God will answer your prayers and any question you have about anything, you just have to have the faith that He can, and He will. I continue to live what I know is true because it makes me happiest when I do so. I have added meaning to my life, knowing why I am here, where I came from, and what I have in store for me after I die, if I can just be worthy to get it. I am happy knowing I can be with my husband and children forever, not just in this life, but after death. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of joy.

How I live my faith

I have the great opportunity to teach the lesson to the women in our church, the third hour of church, one Sunday a month. I also get to help organize fun activities, that enrich us all. It can be from learning a new talent or craft night, to just getting together and eating good food and enjoying even better company. I also visit 3 ladies in my church boundaries at least once a month, where we can share a little message about the gospel of Jesus Christ and just visit with each other. It's the time when we can really see how each other is doing, how we can help lighten their load, or just become better friends. Our church also hosts community events, such as blood drives, that I can volunteer to help with and that is so rewarding to me and beneficial to the community. I also really enjoy going to the Temple as often as possible and feeling the peace and calm and getting away from the world.
