Hi I'm Ali

I'm an English Literature major. I'm a goofball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a junior in college. I love reading books and learning about lots of different things. Two of my favorite things are listening to music and playing Ultimate Frisbee. I have chosen to show my love for my Savior by serving as a missionary in the South Carolina Columbia Mission. I know that the message that I share as a missionary is true and brings amazing joy and peace. I'm excited to help others receive that peace!

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church. But that is not why I am still a member. I am a member of this church because I know the doctrine is true. I don't have one amazing story of my conversion to this gospel. My testimony has grown from many experiences of acting in faith and, in turn, having the Holy Spirit witness to me that I am doing what God would have me do. I know that this gospel is true and eternal. It makes me so deeply happy.

How I live my faith

I serve in the church by doing visiting teaching. I am assigned to get to know and love and serve a few women in my congregation. I see it as an opportunity to not only make sure their needs are met, but also to help them feel Heavenly Father's love for them. I pray to feel his love for them and to know how he would have me serve them. This is not the only way I live my faith. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I try to love everyone I come in contact with. Although, many times I fall short of this goal. I work to be kind to others and do what I can to serve them. After all, charity is the pure love of Christ.

In whom should we have faith?

Faith should be placed in Jesus Christ. In my mind faith is hoping, believing, or trusting something is true and acting upon that belief. For faith to bring forth salvation it has to been placed in Christ. The scriptures say "there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). The reason this is true is because He performed the great Atonement. Through His suffering in the garden of Gethsemane and His death on the cross, he paid the price for our sins. We must have faith in Him and the Atonement He made for us to be saved. Show more Show less
