Hi I'm Tanner

I play, coach and live sports. I'm going to Brazil on a mission. After I'm going to BYU-Hawaii to play college bball.

About Me

I am preparing to serve a two year mission in Campinas Brazil. When I get back I am going to play basketball for BYU-Hawaii. I have been working with a general contractor to save up money for my mission. Part of preparing to play college basketball I've had two surgeries, a knee surgery and I'm recovering from a shoulder surgery right now. Since I can't play any sports right now I'm helping coach basketball at the high school I just graduated from until I leave on my mission. I've grown up playing every sport possible and love competition. I also love fishing and the outdoors. And my brother and I recently made kayaks that we took out on the Columbia River and spent a night on an island in the river. I love sturgeon fishing and aspire someday to learn to play the violin.

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints becase it leads to pure happiness and joy. The way we become truly happy is when we do all we can to be a disciple of Christ. I know that this is God's church and that there is a prophet today that helps us follow God. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible together bring us closer to Christ. I know that when we live closer to God there is a peace that comes to us that can't come if we make wrong choices. Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we may repent and feel of God's love and His peace. I also belong to the church because it helps families grow closer together and I know that God gave us families for a reason to help us learn and grow.

How I live my faith

Playing high school football and basketball is sometimes a tough environment to live my faith in. But I always strive to stick to the standards that I believe in and to be an example to my teammates by refraining from swearing and not playing on Sundays. Most all of my teammates and friends have not been members of the church and they always feel comfortable to ask me a lot of questions about it. I always try to live my life how the Savior would want me to.
