Hi I'm Devin

I am currently serving a mission in Louisiana. I love singing, guitar, soccer and fishing. I love the South and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Devin, I currently am going to college and studying in the field of Psychology. I really want to be a Psychiatrist when I am older, so I can use my job to help people. But also I like to learn and challenge myself. A little more about me is that I love to play sports, especially soccer. Also I love to play the guitar and sing. It's really fun. I am currently preparing to go on an LDS-mission to Louisiana.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church and I never really questioned it, because I enjoyed the people and the activities that we did. But there came a time when I was curious as to why I was doing it, wondering if I was living the gospel for the right reasons. I didn't know if I had a testimony of the gospel or if I just liked the church because it was fun or it was a habit. So I prayed about it and I didn't really get an answer. But I didn't really think about it to much until I was asked to bear my testimony on blessings. As I was bearing my testimony I realized that I really believed what I was saying. I knew that was I was saying was true. I began to think about other aspects fo the gospel and I found the same thing to be true. I realized that I had known these things to be true all along, and it just took my conscious acknowledgement of them to realize that I did know it was true. I have been able to see the blessings that come to me and others in this gospel all throughout my life and I can really say that this church is true. I am so happy and even when I feel bad I know I can pray for comfort and my Savior will comfort me. It is hard to explain the feelings you get when you living the gospel, but they are feelings of joy and love. I know this church is true, I know that I have a Heavenly Father that loves me. I know my Savior, Jesus Christ, atoned for my sins so that I might be able to be forgiven. I know that he loves me and knows me personally. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of god and is divinely inspired. I know that Joseph Smith was also a prophet of god and that he too was inspired. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and it like the Bible testifies of Christ. I love this gospel and I love being a Mormon. It makes me so happy.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith through service. Service is everything. It is really easy to get caught up in the little things of everyday life and forget that there are other people around you. But just by making the effort to help somebody, it will help you forget yourself and more importantly it will benefit those that you help. I am a teacher in my ward and I really like it, but it also scares me. I have never been the best teacher, but I have faith that my Heavenly Father will help me where I need help if I do my part. I have learned to care for those that I teach and I see it as a form of service (even though they teach me more than I think I teach them.) But what it all comes down to, is love. If you love those around you and you are looking out for them, you are being an example of Christ and your life and the lives of those around you will be blessed. Again I can't say that I am a perfect example of this, but I put forth my best effort and I have been blessed and humbled in so many different ways.
