Hi I'm Angela

I live in Colorado. I volunteered three months at an orphanage in Romania. I'm studying Special Education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Junior in college studying special education. I love working with kids and elderly people. I really enjoy backpacking, singing, rappelling, painting, and reading. I feel that the world can use as many kind, happy, energetic people as possible. I love getting out and enjoying life. To me that means getting to know people and nature better. I was able to go volunteer this summer in a Romanian orphanage and hospital. I absolutely loved working with the kids there. It was also really neat to meet other people from a new culture and make friends across the globe!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I pray to God and he answers me. My whole family is Mormon, but the choice of whether I want to stay Mormon has always been my own. I am Mormon because in this church I am taught how to be a better person. I am taught how to love more fully. I am taught how to forgive others. I am taught how to repent. I am Mormon because I find great joy from serving God through this church. I am Mormon because I feel God's love for me as a follow the guidelines, and live my life in harmony with what this church teaches. I am Mormon because God offers me a way to heal from pain. I am Mormon because Jesus died for me. I am Mormon because I saw God's hand helping me in Romania because he loves people everywhere. I felt his deep love for every little boy and girl who I worked with. I am Mormon because the Book of Mormon brings inspiration, peace, and guidance into my life every time that I open it up and read its pages. I am Mormon because I prayed and God answered me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith primarily by trying to serve the people around me. I believe that God wants everyone to be happy, and that we have the responsibility of being his hands and bringing his love and warmth to people within our reach. This semester in college, I had the opportunity to watch over and help two other girls in my church who lived a couple floors below me in my apartment complex. I tried to be their friend, and give emotional, physical, and spiritual support whenever it was needed. I also had the job of keeping track of the other members of my ward and the ways that they helped the specific people they were assigned to. Because I believe in God and feel his love for me everyday, I feel that it's my responsibility to spread his love.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We are all saved by grace! However, we also believe that we must be changed by grace as well. This changing of grace allows us to become better people; more like God. That is why we put so much stress on keeping commandments of God and following strict guidelines. By obedience to God's commandments, we become more like Him. Show more Show less
