Hi I'm Trev

I grew up in Colorado. I'm a husband and father. I'm an educator and a student. I'm a musician. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have made music since grade school. I love unique but simple arrangements of the hymns. I studied music and psychology for my undergraduate degree. I am currently an MBA graduate student. I teach, mentor and advise at a career college. My wife is the best "stay at home" mom ever. My children are not perfect but pretty amazing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon home. Mom and dad were always helping others. They still are today. Mom always had an extra tray of cookies or an extra casserole. My dad never met a stranger. Anyone who meets him feels better and ends up with a smile. Although my older brothers went on missions, I had quite another plan. I was a blossoming musician with dreams of travel and fame. At 18 I had still not read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. With a girlfriend on the other side of the country and avoiding expensive long distance phone charges, I was left with a lot of spare time. I had time to read more. I started reading the Book of Mormon from page one and kept going. It lit a fire in me that I could not deny or extinguish. I ended up asking to serve a mission and was assigned to Japan. I fell in love with the Japanese people. It is a nation full of Christlike people that do not know much about Christ. They follow the teachings of the Savior without even knowing it. Composer and singer Daniel Hoye wrote about the great Japanese people, "...children of an unknown God. At least unknown to them." I now strive to correct my mistakes and be like the many examples of Christlike people I have met. I watch my wife and kids daily follow the Savior with all their hearts. I now feel that same love that I developed for the Japanese people as I work with my family, friends and neighbors to celebrate the "Good News" of The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live in a neighborhood full of amazing grandmas and grandpas. My teenage son and younger daughter love to visit the grandmas and grandpas in the area. It is hard to keep up with the 80 year old neighbors that gets up earlier than everyone else to shovel driveways. The ladies in the neighborhood always seem to know if someone needs a little TLC. My wife is part of that great group of ladies. My favorite places to participate in church are as an organist/pianist or a Sunday school teacher. Even though I served a mission in Japan 20 years ago, I still love to sing the hymns in Japanese and occasionally forget the English words when I get exited about the gospel.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood can be explained simply and similarly to the roles of a father and mother. Think about yourself and all your selfish wants and desires. Now, forget about yourself and ask the Lord what you can do for others. Then go and do for others! There is one catch though, in order to strengthen others, you must have strength yourself. So be a good steward of all the blessings you receive. Then you can help yourself and others receive even more blessings from Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
