Hi I'm Tyson

I am a proud Canadian. I love to eat. I am a missionary in the south. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the youngest of 8 kids. I have 5 older brothers and 2 older sisters. My family is the most important thing in my life. We enjoy spending time playing sports, watching shows, and doing projects with each other. I discovered a love for the arts during highschool and spent much of my time on stage, in the band, or on the sidelines cheering on our team. I developed a love to to be on stage, when I started performing I found a different side of myself. I became free on stage and was able to become whatever or whoever I wanted. I love to use these talents to make other people smile and laugh. I still find true happiness when I am able to hangout with my siblings and their spouses and children. Making my nieces and nephews laugh is one of the best things I can do as their favorite uncle.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. I always attended my Sunday and other weekly meetings. when I was young I always loved to learn of the old Bible and Book of Mormon stories. as I grew up I still attended but my enthusiasm started to fade, I knew the answers and I knew what I needed to know, but I wasn't always doing it. eventually I got to a point where I either needed to know that this was what I needed to do and then DO IT, or I needed to find something else to fill the void. I prayes one of the most sincere prayers of my life. I wouldn't be able to pin point a specific moment in time when I came to know that I knew, but in time I continued to study the Book of Mormon, pray, and live the gospel, I found the void in my life close and the Saviours peace enter my life. As a missionary my only goal is to share that peace and joy in my life with others, so they can experience the happiness this church has brought me in my life

How I live my faith

I am a full time missionary serving the Lord. I share the Gospel of good news to those I meet. I Live as a constant representative of Jesus Christ and wear his name 24/7 and I have fun doing it. As I walk around wearing my suit and tie, with a little black name badge identifying me as a missionary, I Serve as christs hands and feet, acting as Christ would act and to doing as Christ would do. As I have performed this volunteer service I have come closer to Christ and enjoy the blessings of His restored gospel

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is often called the "Mormon church" as a nickname. Mormon was a great prophet in ancient America, he was one of the last prophets in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon was also named after this great prophet because of the efforts he made to preserve the ancient record. Because Mormon was such a great example and because the Book of Mormon is unique to our church we are often called "Mormons." Even though there is nothing wrong with being called Mormons, the church prefers to be called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

We are taught to follow Christ and to strive to become like him. Christ himself was a perfect holy man and was still baptized by the John the Baptist. Christ taught up that baptism is essential to "fulfill all righteousness" We too must be baptized as Christ was, to obtain salvation. If we are to truly follow Christs example we must be baptized by immersion under the priesthood authority of God. When baptized by one holding this authority we have full access to the atonement of Jesus Christ, which allows us to be forgiven of our sins and imperfections. we are also baptized and confirmed members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. as members of this church God promises the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost as we continue to follow Christ and keep his Commandments. What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the power and authority of God! This authority is entrusted to worthy male members of ofpur faith so that they can bless the lives of others. Christ and His Apostles used the priesthood to bless the sick, comfort and serve others and to perform ordinances such as baptism with the Priesthood of God. Today worthy male members of our church can act in the name of Christ and provide the same services to others. The Priesthood gives church leaders the authority to guide those withing their stewardship, bishops for their congregation, fathers for their family, etc. etc. the most important role of the priesthood is to perform essential ordinances for salvation, such as baptism, for honest seekers of Christ. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Much like the Bible, the Book of Mormon is a volume of Holy scripture that contains the fullness of the gospel. It was created by a Prophet of God, comparable to Moses, Isaiah and Abraham. This Prophets name was Nephi. Nephi lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C., around the time of Jeremiah. Nephi was Comanded to make a record of his dealings with God. Nephis father, Lehi, who was also a Prophet, was commanded to leave Jerusalem and flee into the wilderness with his family. Nephi, Lehi, and their families were then guided by God, much like Moses and the children of Israel, to a promised land, now known as the Americas. These people flourished and became a numerous people. Their record was passed down from generation to generation. Each generation recorded their dealings with God. Eventually this record was compiled and summarized by a Prophet-historian named Mormon. This is why the book is called the Book of Mormon. Mormon then gave the record to Moroni, the last Prophet in the book. Moroni made a promise to anyone who reads the Book of Mormon, He promised that anyone who reads this book, who prays to God with honest sincerity and real intent to apply it's teachings will receive a witness from God, through the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true.
