Hi I'm Hilary Munger

I am an anthropologist. I work in international development. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sunshine! Being outside and feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin, whither its on the golf course or skiing down the mountain, is my favorite feeling. This love of sunshine has shared a large part in many of the trips that I have taken around the world. As a starving college student I worked extra jobs and set as much money aside as I could so that I could travel the world; in order to meet new people and understand ways of life that were different than mine. As I traveled throughout Latin America I experienced not only the fabulous warm weather, but also warm individuals and welcoming homes. I came to know of the struggles that daily life presented to impoverished families trying to do the best they could with what life had given them. I fell in love with Latin America because of the beautiful people who live there. These experiences inspired me to dedicate my education and my future career to international development.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have felt the love of Christ in my life and the deep love of his atonement. I know that because of the atonement of Christ I can be comforted be a divine and loving Savior who knows exactly what I am feeling. I know that because of the atonement of Christ I am truly forgiven of all my sins and mistakes. I know that because of this atonement I can one day live forever in the presence of God. I am a Mormon because I know that God speaks to prophets today them same way that he did during biblical times. I know that it is through his servants, the prophets, that the full truth of the Gospel of Christ has been revealed. It is through this modern revelation we have been given temples where the ordinances that bind our families together for all eternity are performed. I am a Mormon because I have prayed earnestly to know if the things taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are true and if it is the church of God. Through the love of God, by the promptings of His Holy Spirit, I have received great peace of body, mind and spirit bearing a witness to me of the eternal truths of this church and His gospel.

How I live my faith

Due to the teachings of Christ that I have been taught, everyday I am reminded of the love that God has for his children and I try to live my life how God and Christ would want me to. I participate in one of the largest women's organizations in the world. Each Sunday I have the opportunity to teach a wonderful group of women about Christ and lead discussions about ways applying his teachings to our lives can benefit us individually as well our families and our communities. Each week there are many fun activities that I join in, planned by groups of other single 20 somethings like myself, that have allowed to expand my social circle and religious community to include people that I never would have met otherwise. Among this new circle of friends I have helped people move, comforted those who have recently lost a loved one, and prepared meals for someone who recently went through surgery.
