Hi I'm Andrew Larsen

I'm a big brother. I'm a nerd. I'm Awesome. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Well for starters some of my hobbies are playing video games, making Youtube videos, and music. My favorite thing to do is hang out with my friends and/or family :) I like music a lot, especially creating it! I play a little piano and guitar for fun. I'm into mellow sounding music, music to chillax to. I also enjoy reading! for exercise I love playing ultimate frisbee and other frisbee sports. I like basketball and have been getting into parkour/free-running too. I'm a big fan of food, especially pizza. I'm a goofball and love to laugh. I was in boy scouts and got my eagle award, I started college but stopped to serve a Mormon mission. I have a great love for my family and friends. They are a great motivation to me in everything I do. I try to be like Jesus so that i can be the happiest. I try to enjoy every day! I love being Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member, I've been through a lot in life. The reason I've chosen to be a memeber of this church is because I have seen the blessing of being a member of this church. I have a strong belief in the power of prayer, of reading the scriptures and in faith. this church has made me the person I am today, I am better because of it, I know it is true. I'm so thankful to be Mormon.

How I live my faith

I come from a divorced family, my parents separated when I was pretty young and both eventually remarried. Being the oldest among all my siblings, half siblings, and step siblings I learned to be a good example. Since childhood I've always tried to be someone that they could look up to and that my whole family could depend on. I learned growing up that my weeks and days went better when I attended church, had daily prayer, and read my scriptures. Since then I encouraged my friends and family to do the same, sometimes standing alone in wanting to do these things. Through it all I've learned that Jesus Christ is there for me and that he loves everyone and wants us to return to live with him and our Heavenly Father. I live my faith in every way I can. To me, being a Mormon is not just being part of a religion. It is a way of life and influences who I am and who I want to be. I don't just have faith, I act on it!

What is the Book of Mormon?

Andrew Larsen
The book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and a record of the ancient Americas. It has the words of prophets around the time of Christ's ministry. It starts with Lehi and his family being directed to leave their home to avoid the destruction of Jerusalem. They travel to a promised land, which was the Americas. There they prospered and grew into two major groups. the Nephites and the Lamanites. The book of Mormon is a collection of the writings and works of ancient prophets who were around during this time. from when Lehi arrived to when Christ came to the Americas after his resurrection. The book is true and you can know this by reading and sincerely praying for a knowledge of it's truth by the power of the Holy Spirit. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Andrew Larsen
I think of my body like a gift from God. I only get one, so i need to take good care of it! I treat my body like i treat the temple. With that in mind i try to only intake things that are good for me. I try to live healthy so i have more energy to learn and grow. I follow the counsel of modern day prophets and avoid the use of things like tobacco, alcohol, coffee and tea, and illegal brugs. some of these things are obviously bad for you but others i trust that god has a reason for not using. i don't focus so much on what I can't eat, as much as i focus on what i can eat! i try to have a balanced diet from the food pyramid. I find that I'm happy this way and can focus better! the best way to know if it works is to try it out. and use prayer! god knows everything right? Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Andrew Larsen
to answer simply the book of Mormon is written by God. through ancient prophets the teachings and words of heavenly father are given to us through the book of Mormon. Mormon and Moroni (book of Mormon prophets) abridged many histories and writings together to create one set of plates. these plates were discovered and translated by Joseph smith through the power of God. i know this to be true because the book is true. all you have to do is read it and pray to know this. It is life changing. I'm so thankful to those ancient and modern day prophets fro bringing this book into existence. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Andrew Larsen
Missionaries talk about Jesus Christ. they try to help others come unto him and learn of his teachings. They want to help everyone progress no matter how much they know about Christ or his gospel. A lot of people think that missionaries are weird guys in suits that are trying to get you to join their church. In reality they just want to help others in anyway they can. they are trying to be like jesus, walking around teaching the word and serving others. they'll teach about how Christ's church has been restored to it's original state. They'll teach about how God communicates through a prophet and how we can come to know God and Jesus Christ ourselves. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Andrew Larsen
without God's authority we can't do any ordinance (such as baptism). I've always thought of it with this analogy. say in class at school instead of your teacher showing up to teach a clown from the local circus decides to come in. he assigns you tons of homework on all sorts of things. will you do it? probably not... but if your teacher were to give you homework would you? what is the difference here? a teacher has the authority to so, not a clown. similarly you can't be baptized by someone unless they have the authority to do so. that authority, known as the priesthood, comes from God. How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Andrew Larsen
If you want to become a member of the Mormon Church you need to do a few things. First meet with the missionaries keep the commitments they give to you. They will help you get on track for baptism, baptism is the way by which we are cleaned from all our mistakes and promise to try our best to follow Jesus Christ. This baptism needs to be done by someone holding the priesthood authority of God and it needs to be done by immersion, the same way that Jesus was baptized. after baptism you receive the holy ghost and are confirmed as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After that you keep doing those commitments that you promised to do and continue to grow in faith and in love for the Savior. Becoming a member of the Mormon Church is to truly follow the example that Jesus Christ set for us and will bring you a lasting peace and happiness you cannot have otherwise. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Andrew Larsen
It's not secret as much as it is sacred. It's one of those things you don't talk about because it is so personal and between you and God. Only those who are worthy and are baptized may enter into this sacred sanctuary. However visitors are welcome and even encouraged to visit the beautiful grounds as well as come to open houses of the temple before it is dedicated. Inside the temple we make covenants and participate in ordinances that help us grow closer to god and make us able to be with our families forever! This is where marriages and sealings are done as well as where baptisms for the dead are performed. In the scriptures there are many instances of the use of temples. They are necessary in order for the work of The Lord to progress. I'm so glad for the restoration of the gospel and the blessings of having temples here on the earth again. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Andrew Larsen
Yes! Our full church name is The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. We believe in Jesus Christ, his gospel and in his atonement. He is the leader of our church, he is our savior, the redeemer of all mankind. We believe that he was the only one to have ever and to ever live a perfect life and that he suffered and died so that we could return to live with him and our Heavenly Father. I have a testimony that Christ knows each of us and loves us. It is through him that we can have happiness and everlasting life. We are Christians in the most real sense that there is! Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Andrew Larsen
We don't worship Joseph Smith, he was a prophet. We worship God, our heavenly father, and the savior Jesus Christ. We have a great respect and gratitude to Joseph Smith for being an instrument in the Lords hand to bring forth the restoration of the gospel. he was a good leader and truly was a prophet of god but we don't worship him. Mormons do not worship prophets but follow their counsel to better worship God. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Andrew Larsen
I really believe that God continues to speak to man. Through out all of history God has communicated with his children through prophets. If God is the same yesterday, today and forever then wouldn't we need a prophet to guide us in our day? whenever the children of God call out to him for help and earnestly seek him he calls a rescuer or a prophet to help them. Joseph Smith was the first prophet in our time and we have since been promised that we will always have a prophet until the day when Christ comes again. Just like Moses not everyone likes to hear what the prophets say or gives heed to their counsel. But those who keep the commandments and follow the prophets have been greatly blessed. I've seen that in my own life as I've tried to listen to and follow the current prophet, Thomas S. Monson. By listening to him My life has been better! I'm really thankful to have someone like Moses to help us with today's challenges. it's just another way i know heavenly father cares about me! Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Andrew Larsen
That's a good question. Missionaries save up for and fund much of the expense of their missionary efforts. before serving they must have a way to pay for their missions. Whether that is through their own savings, through the help of their parents and family, or through the help of their local ward and church members. it's a big sacrifice to serve a mission. time, talent and money all go into it but the Lord really blesses the missionaries who are willing to do this. It's important to note that even though it's really encouraged, missionary service is entirely voluntary and not required. So those who are out really are putting a lot of sacrifice into what they do. these missionaries are out there to help bring people and families closer to Christ. They demonstrate charity and Christlike love just by being there for people! Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Andrew Larsen
The Atonement is an incredible event and power. it is the most amazing and awesome moment in all of history. It is the act of Christ's suffering for us as well as the power by which we are made whole. The Atonement helps us overcome the guilt and pain caused by sin. it also helps us in EVERYTHING that we do. Christ took all of the pains of sin upon himself for us. It enables us to do more and be more than we can on our own. It was necessary for him to pay this price so that Heavenly Father's plan for us could come to being. No one else could do what Jesus Christ did. It took me a long time to comprehend why the atonement was necessary. But now i know that it is the ultimate key in our success. I am eternally grateful to the savior for dying for my sins as well as my faults and my mistakes. I could get no where without his help. Without it there would be no hope and no future. the atonement is real. I know it with all my being. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Andrew Larsen
Being Mormon is AWESOME! I've really loved being able to grow up in a faith where i can have fun and be myself without having to lower or change my values. I've seen that being Mormon has helped me in every aspect of my life. with my family, with my work, with my hobbies. I love having a better connection with my Heavenly Father, it's saved me many times! It's great to have the support system that exists within the church. But mostly it's great to have an anchor in the gospel for me and my family. You'll never meet a group of people who can have so much fun but still have high standards. I'm proud to be a Member of this church! It's amazing! Show more Show less
