Hi I'm Carly.

I'm a Northeastern Ohio native studying Chemistry Education at BYU. I'm an avid music and sports enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Although I'm most recently from Akron, Ohio, I currently reside in Provo, Utah. In my family, I have been blessed with being the only sister of three rambunctious yet lovable brothers. My family is the most valuable asset in my life, and I love them all dearly. I enjoy spending my free time outdoors engaging in various activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and water skiing. On a typical rainy day, I can be found curled up on my couch reading a good book or watching the latest chick flick. I'm currently studying Chemistry Education with the hopes of applying to dental school.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. On the contrary, I haven't been converted that entire time. My conversion did not happen suddenly, overnight, or instantaneously. Rather, I learned a principle, I applied it in my own life, and over time, my faith increased. There have been many times in my life where I am unsure of certain principles, but I have found that blessings can come when we act on faith. When I was 13 and 14 I didn't read my scriptures because I always found an alternate activity. When I entered high school, I made it a goal to read everyday. I began to read the Book of Mormon, and I read everyday until I finished the book. I prayed about the validity of the book, and I knew in my heart that it was true. I had known this as a girl growing up, but this experience reinforced my testimony of both the Book of Mormon and the church as a whole. I also love being a Mormon because of the emphasis on family and family life. I was raised in a loving home with parents and siblings that cared about my welfare and future. Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I am able to strengthen my family relationships and love others as Christ loves me.

How I live my faith

As a Latter-day Saint youth, I have the opportunity of assisting my leaders in planning and carrying out activities for my peers. These activities are created with the purpose of assisting the youth in maintaining the standards of dress, language, and health we uphold. I try to model my life after Christ through serving others. I participate in various service activities that benefit those in need both within my congregation and my community. As a student in a Mormon-minority high school, I was constantly asked questions regarding my faith and beliefs. It was a blessing to be able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with so many during that time in my life. I now got to BYU where 97% of the population is of the Latter-day Saint faith. I'm still very blessed and grateful for the unity and testimony building experiences that take place in my life. As I am constantly surrounded by people of my same beliefs, I am lifted up and amazed by the remarkable people that surround me. They give me the strength to be a better person each and every day.
