Hi I'm Janis

I grew up in a home in southern California. Our family were all Mormons long before I was born. I love to be a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of six, and a grandmother of fifteen. I enjoy sewing, reading, and working on the computer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who was active in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormons). My siblings and I were baptized when we were eight years and I have enjoyed being an active member my whole life. Throughout my life I have taken advantage of as many of the gospel programs that have solidified my testimony throughout the years. These include listening to special inspired speakers who encourage me to improve in important areas, and fulfilling various Church callings throughout the years. Through this service I have been taught how Heavenly Father provides so many wonderful learning experiences as we help others in our callings providing service to those in need, including my family and our neighbors. I love the Lord and know that he and Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother love me. I have had many spiritual feelings and messages in the last several months. I love the feeling and confidence it gives me in knowing that I am trying to do the right things. I love studying the scriptures and love the blessings I am receiving as a result of being obedient to this challenge. In this last dispensation I am confident that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he restored the gospel in its fullness. I know that our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, is the prophet who receives revelation for us today and I love him for the example he is to me.

How I live my faith

I enjoy attending church every week and being able to bask in the spirit and interact with friends and members. I enjoy teaching the ten year old children and love to see the joy in their faces as they learn about the principles in the Church.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Janis
Every Sunday we attend our church service called Sacrament Meeting. It lasts a little more than an hour. Visitors attend often and are welcome. Entire families attend each week, and there are many children in attendance each week. Our Sacrament Meeting includes: congregational hymns, prayers offered by local Church members, partaking of the Sacrament, and two or three speakers. Show more Show less
