Hi I'm Andrew Thomas

I'm from Oregon. I have one and a half years till I graduate with a chemistry major and a Japanese minor

About Me

I love running, really anything outdoors, and playing the violin. I have run nine marathons and multiple 5 and 10 k's. Whenever I have a free weekend, you'll often find me hiking, camping or canoeing. I have played the violin since I was twelve and have played in competition in several locations in Europe and have even played for the Kawamitsu family when I lived in Japan for two years. In recent years, I have started changing my focus from classical to fiddle playing. After getting together with a few friends that were in blue grass groups and them inviting me to a few jam sessions I've come to realize how enjoyable playing the fiddle can be.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I believe that this is the true church. I have read the Old and new Testament and there just seems to be some things that are missing. Reading the other works of the Doctrine and Covenants and Book of Mormon, bring in those truths that are missing from the Bible. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later day saints, because of the community of people within the church that are watching out for each other and desire the best for everyone within it. I can't envision what my life would be like without the high standards that I've learned and follow that have come from this church's teachings. There are many, many reasons that I'm a Mormon, and I'm grateful for making the choice that I made to be one.

How I live my faith

I haven't had any significant callings within the church since returning from a two year mission in Japan a few years back, but I have helped with others that have callings that take a lot of time. Examples include activities were I can help out with tables or chairs that need to be setup or taken down. I often find ways to serve within the community by helping out with the food bank, giving blood, or raking leaves for neighbors. I have also helped in community biking and running events that were in the area by directing people where to go.
