Hi I'm Katelyn

I'm a soon to be missionary. I'm a family and children lover. I'm a fan of Spring weather . I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a the fifth child out of eight children and I love my family. Children are my delight and having three sweet nephews is the greatest thing ever. I love hiking and camping and being outdoors. I enjoy playing soccer although I am not the best at it. Soon I will be serving a mission in Argentina and I am delighted to do so! I am planning on receiving my Elementary Education degree when I return home from my mission. I would like to teach someday but my first desire to become a wife and a mother.I like to cook but mostly I enjoy eating things that my brother and mom cook :) I love playing games with family and friends and I enjoy playing the piano when I have free time.

Why I am a Mormon

The Holy Ghost has witnessed to me time and time again that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and everlasting church. I am a Mormon because I know that the Mormon church is Jesus Christ's church. Jesus Christ offers all of God's children a peace that is matchless. And because the Mormon church is Christ's church, I have felt the peace that only Christ can give as I have tried to live and love the Gospel teachings. Being a part of this church brings me happiness because in it, I am encouraged to strive to become a better person everyday. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a church of love and growth. The Holy Ghost helps my testimony of Jesus Christ grow and when my testimony grows, I want to love more, serve more, and be a better person. I am a Mormon because the principles and doctrines that make up the Gospel of Jesus Christ make me more happy as I follow them. Reading and studying the Book of Mormon and all scripture has also helped me understand why I am a Mormon. I have come to love the scriptures and I know that they contains eternal truths that if understood and followed, will help us become closer to Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

When I was in the young single adult ward, I had a calling that helped me see how much Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father really do love us, and when I was able to see that, my love for others grew and became more sincere. I had many opportunities to provide service and to also receive service and invite others to do so. Serving God's children with a happy heart is one of the greatest ways I have come to know Him and understand His love. Because like the Book of Mormon scripture says in Mosiah 2:17 "...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints encourages heartfelt service so often I believe, because when we do things for others, the Holy Ghost is present and we can learn things from him that will strengthen our testimonies of the Savior. This is what serving others and receiving service from others has done for me. Sometimes I focus on things that do not matter in the eternal perspective. And when I do, I make the mistake of giving the adversary an opportunity of putting negative thoughts in my head. Service to me is one of the greatest antidotes for negativity and sadness. Negativity is one of Satan's tools, but service is one of God's tools. Things that are of God are happy. Therefore, service has the great ability to create happiness to those who are providing it and also to those who are receiving it. Heavenly Father has granted me numerous opportunities to serve, especially when I sincerely pray for those opportunities. I know that there is much more I could be doing to serve others, and so praying to find ways to serve people has been a great blessing.
