Hi I'm Jennifer Houtz

I grew up in Utah. I love to sing. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jennifer, I grew up in Heber City, Utah. I have 10 people in my family, so it is never a dull moment at my house. I have 4 brothers that are always watching out for me and I have 3 sisters that I love so much! I am so grateful to have such an amazing family and I would never give up family for anything. I spent my time growing up, working at my families business, The Dairy Keen. I loved talking to lots of different people from all over the world. One of my favorite things to do is to go boating. I love wake surfing, wakeboarding, tubing, and knee boarding. It is so fun to go out and spend time with your family and do something that you love. My favorite place to go boating with my family is Lake Powell. It is so fun to explore the canyons and go cliff jumping. After I graduated from high school, I started college at Utah Valley University and completed a year, before I put all of that on hold to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am currently serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission and I love every second of it. I will be going to Neuquén Argentina after I receive my visa. I love the people of Iowa and I already love the people of Argentina. I am so happy that I have the opportunity to be serving The Lord for these short 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have been taught about the gospel my whole life. There was never really a doubt in my mind that the church was true, so I never seached for my own answer. When I got into high school, I started going to seminary. While I was in seminary there was a program called the lettering program and when I was first introduced to the program I thought that it would be something that would help me get something out of seminary. Through the four years I was in seminary I did the lettering program and it helped me gain a testimony of the gospel at such a deeper level. I took the initiative and studied the scriptures and it helped me know that the lessons I had been taught my whole life were true. I have a testimony in the Book of Mormon. I know that if you read it and follow Moroni's promise that you will know for sure that this is the true church. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and he wants us to gain a testimoney and know that the church is true.

How I live my faith

I strive to find good that I can do each day. I always look for ways that I can do service for others and make their lives a little bit better. I live my faith by helping others learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it was restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. The most important thing, for me, is being a good example and trying to have Christlike attributes. It is very important to me to be kind to everyone and show them that I love them.
