Hi I'm Tanner McKissick

I'm from the Salt Lake Area. I recently returned from serving a mission in Cape Verde!!! I absolutely love life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from the Salt Lake Area, born and raised. I recently returned from serving a mission in Cape Verde!! I enjoy playing basketball and have played it since I was little and I also played for my high school team, I also love to run and I participated in both track and cross country throughout high school. Other than that I also love to hang out with my family and friends, and I like girls a lot!! I gained my testimony while I was in high school because I God gave me many opportunities to know the truth of this gospel and I finally took it late in my sophomore year. I loved the pure joy, peace, and love that ignited in me when I started to apply the principles of the restored gospel in my life. I love knowing that we have a loving Heavenly Father who knows us and cares so deeply for our welfare. I love His Son, Jesus Christ, and I'm eternally grateful for his atoning and everlasting sacrifice. In general I just love this Gospel more than I can express through any words I can possibly say. One of the things I love most is that any sincere truth seeker can know that these things are true for themselves. I'm a witness of that. I currently am attending college at BYU-Idaho and am loving life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to good parents who taught me the gospel, but I'm a Mormon because I prayed and asked God if this Church was true and He answered me. In other words, I am a member of this Church because I found out for myself that it is true, not because my parents told me. I have come to find that when I live the gospel's teachings I am much happier than when I don't live its teachings. I have experienced inexpressible joy and peace because of my knowledge that Jesus Christ is real and that this is His Church. When I experience hardships and trials, I turn to Christ and He carries me. When I am at my happiest, it is all because of the Lord and His blessings and love for me. Who wouldn't want something that can help us overcome our problems and sorrow? If we follow Jesus Christ and His gospel, we have protection and assurance. That is what keeps me going to overcome the difficulties that I face in life. If I didn't have this Church, I wouldn't be able to handle my problems like I do. There has never been a moment in my life where God was not with me. He nourishes us, polishes us, cries with us, laughs with us, rejoices with us, all because He loves us with an incomprehensible love and only desires us to have joy. I know this is the one true path to our eternal home with our Eternal Father in Heaven. This isn't something I merely think, hope, or even believe is true; it is something I know to be true. This is why I am a Mormon

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by trying to be my best self every day and constantly striving to improve myself as a follower of Jesus Christ. I'm not perfect, but I can continually better myself thanks to the sacrifice that our Savior, Jesus Christ made for us. That is what drives me. I love living my faith, even though it is often difficult. But if Jesus Christ could suffer for all of our sins, pains, and weaknesses because of His love for us, then the least we can do is do our best to follow Him. We can't repay Him for the sacrifice He made, but we can use it to become like Him. The purpose of the atonement isn't just so that we can be clean from sin, but also that we may become as Christ is by constantly striving day by day to be better. When I was young I always went to church with my parents and brother, who are all active members, but it wasn't until high school that I knew this church was true for myself. Early on in high school all I cared about was sports and popularity, but that quickly changed when my eyes were opened to the pure and eternal joy that came to me when I decided to live the Gospel as my highest priority. That's one of the miracles of the restored gospel, that when we live it we begin to recognize what is really important in life. I love that we are able to communicate to our Father in Heaven through prayer and that He communicates to us through scriptures and through the Holy Ghost. I go to bed and wake up with a smile on my face because of how happy the Gospel makes me. We can have an inward fountain of limitless joy with this Gospel. No burden or trial or any other outside influence can seriously affect our happiness when we accept Christ as our Savior and obey His commandments.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Tanner McKissick
No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We simply recognize him as the great prophet through whom Christ restored His Church back onto the earth. We do not regard him as deity in any shape or form, but it is essencial for us to know for ourselves whether or not he was a prophet of God; because if he was, then this is the one true church on the earth. We only worship God the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
