Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in the small town of Liberty, UT. I love where I live, what I do and most of all my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City on January 25, 1993 going directly into the arms of my parents Brian and Karen who waited so long for me. I have an older brother and a younger brother and sister. I grew up on a small farm and consequently, I'm in love with the mountains and country lifestyle. I'm not a typical girl, I like to play sports and work hard and ride my 4 wheeler and get muddy. I like to go camping, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. My favorite thing to do is run. That's how I release and stay sane, it's how I live. I love exercising and sweating in general which is why I have chosen Human Performance Management as my career path. I want to help people by showing them how to live healthy lifestyles and help them to feel good about themselves. Most of all, I love my family and my faith. I'm proud to say I'm Mormon and it's the best thing about me.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints saved my life and I know I wouldn't be where or who I am today without it. I owe so much to my Father in Heaven and His gospel and I am so grateful for all He has done and continues to do for me, and also for His gospel in my life. Yes, I was raised in this gospel and taught from day one it's teachings and principles. But, it was my choice to believe or even accept it. And the reason I believe it and accept it is because I know it's true. I know it's true because I felt it, the Spirit of the Lord witnessed unto me the truth. I know Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, love me and want me to be happy and they want me to live with them again. I also know I couldn't possibly be where I am today had it not been for His Hand in my life. I have it really good in my life and there's no way I could've without divine intervention. That's how I know He loves me. I talk to Him every morning and every night, and often throughout the day. I know He hears me, my every prayer, thought, worry, fear, cry and spoken word. I know He is listening and He cares. I know He knows me better than I know myself. I know I am His child, and we all are His children, His precious children whom He loves more than anything. Because He loves me, because He blesses me every day, because He gave us His gospel and the truth - that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In my church, I have served much of my time with visiting teaching, which is where women in the community visit with each other making sure they are doing well and their needs are met and sharing the gospel. I am currently a Sunday School teacher teaching Gospel Principles to all who wish learn. In my every day life, my long-term goal is to do as much as I possibly can to spread this wonderful gospel to everyone I come in contact with and show them what I know and what I have. I have a burning desire to serve my fellow men and serve the Lord by spreading His word and His love. I want everyone to have what I have, know what I know and be as happy as I am. I know Heavenly Father loves me and wants the best for me, and that is why I love Him and His Son, Jesus Christ, more than anything and that is why I love His gospel. I try every day to look for opportunities to serve others and the Lord. Every day I strive to stand as a witness and example of Jesus Christ by acting as He would. I always have the phrase in mind, "If the Savior stood beside me...", and that helps me to make the right decisions and take the right actions. The whole purpose of the gospel is to become as Christ is, and the only way we can do that is by trying to be like Him; loving everyone, serving as much as we can, keeping His commandments and more importantly, loving Him. Because of this and how much I love this gospel, I have chosen to serve a mission and I know it will be the best experience of my life and I can't wait to get to work.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Melissa
The way I grew my faith was seeking for it. I wanted it and did everything I could to make it grow. How I did that was following the commandments of God. I went to church and listened to the messages and lessons presented and applied them to my daily life. I prayed every day to Him and thanked Him for blessings and asked for guidance. I stood in holy places at all times so His Spirit would always be with me. These are just some things that promote growth in faith. I've come to learn that faith is always growing and without working for it, it's no good. Faith + Action = Increased Faith & a Testimony. Show more Show less
