Hi I'm Lanniece

I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a high school teacher, and oh yeah, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach 9th grade English at an inner city school, and I love, love, love my kids! I see lots of kids with family problems and hard situations that make the street life so tempting. I feel extremely blessed to know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and who loves the kids that I teach.

Why I am a Mormon

More than 30 years ago my husband and I were newly married and looking for a church home. We had both had experience in protestant faiths and knew we wanted to raise our future children as Christians. We stumbled onto some pictures of Mormon temples, such beautiful buildings with an angel sounding a trump on the top of each one like the message was important to the world. We asked about the temples and and member answered our questions and asked if we'd like to have the missionaries teach us. We didn't know at the time that our lives were about to change for the better. The church has helped us to better understand the teachings of the Bible, and the Book of Mormon has blessed our lives with a clearer concept of God's dealings with his children. We have raised our four children by the teachings of the gospel and we now have 5 grandchildren who are being raised to know Christ as well. The peace the gospel brings in times of trouble and just in daily living is truly unsurpassed. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and good because I have tasted of its fruit.

How I live my faith

I pray for my students just like I do for my own family. My callings in the church over the last 30 or so years have helped me to understand more about how much happier life can be when you live it according to God's plan. The gospel of Jesus Christ isn't just a "church thing" or a "Sunday thing." It is a 24 hour, 7 day way of living, loving and dealing with people and life. The church has helped me to learn how to follow the Savior in how I work with my students, and how I serve my family and other church members.
