Hi I'm Brennon

I'm an opera singer, missionary, perpetual student, and want-to-be polyglot.

About Me

I am a missionary serving in the Boston, Massachusetts Mission. I also spent time in the Mexico, Torreon Mission. I grew up a member of the Church in a wonderful family of 6. My parents taught me the importance of helping others, and now I am using my talents to help build Zion in New England. I love to sing opera and listen to music of all genres. I also love economics and business strategy. I have no idea what career path I will take, but I know that I want to be happy. I'm a distance runner and a Steve Prefontaine fanatic. If I could be a professional student my life would be a dream. My favorite Disney movie is Pocahontas, and I want to live in Singapore when I grow up (whenever that is).

Why I am a Mormon

As a person who was born into the church, it may seem logical to believe that I am a Mormon simply out of habit. I've often asked myself why I am Mormon, as well as why I continue to live and worship the way I do. I often have a lot of questions about myself and my beliefs, but I have a very strong testimony of a few things, and those simple truths keep me going through any doubts I may have. First, the gospel provides me with a certain perspicacity. It allows me to better understand my role as a brother, co-worker, son, student, and friend, as well as providing me insight on my overall purpose in this vast expanse we call the universe. The Gospel allows me to help others, trusting in a better tomorrow, no matter the outcome of today. To be able to wake up each day wondering "what can I do to serve others" brings with it a certain aura of success. After all, as the great St. Francis of Assisi said, "For it is in giving that we receive." In giving of the deepest, most intimate parts of my soul in order to help others find purpose, I find joy. I find fulfillment in service, as well as a peace that is found in no other pursuit. I find my own life becomes more successful as I put the priorities of others in front of my own. I revel in my imperfections each day, and seek to learn from others as I freely give of any knowledge or abilities God has seen fit to bestow upon me. I am not perfect. Rather, I am on a never-ending quest for improvement and fulfillment, both internally and externally. I believe in the very real power of Atonement of Jesus Christ. I also believe that through the Atonement I will one day reach the destination I so desperately seek. In short, although I am a young man full of questions and doubts, as many young people are, I know that Christ is my Savior, and that he helps me to be the best I can be. I believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God, translated by Joseph Smith the prophet, and I invite all to come and test my beliefs for themselves.

How I live my faith

I am currently a full-time missionary for the Church. What that means, I'm still not always sure! I spend lots of time talking to people and helping them become closer to the ideal they have of happiness. I try to find people who are interested in learning. I work with other missionaries as we all struggle together in this great effort, and I learn to love those around me more each day. I've worked with everyone from farmers in the deserts of Mexico to Harvard Doctoral candidates, and I have a resounding belief that the gospel really is for everyone. Anyone who has a sincere desire to learn of the truth can find it, and my job is to teach it. I know that God lives and that He loves us. I also know that beyond that, nothing really matters. If we establish those two principles, everything else can be resolved down the road, as we work united in an effort to establish Zion on the earth today.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Brennon
The missionaries will share with you a message about Jesus Christ and his atonement, but they will also be willing to answer any questions you have about the Mormon religion and its practices, the Book of Mormon, or any other gospel related topic. They will share with you the amazing plan of salvation which allows all people the opportunity to return again to live with Heavenly Father, as we did before this life. Show more Show less
