Hi I'm Dane

I'm a student, I love to play basketball and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My family moved to Ontario Canada when I was just 9. I'm the second child in a family of four children, two boys, two girls. My high school was in this awesome farming town where we had our annual "hicks with sticks" ball hockey tournament every year, but basketball is my game. I'm down to play anytime, anywhere, I'm a very competitive person. Right now I'm studying engineering and trying to find a good balance between school work and everything else that demands time. I love math, cleaning the kitchen, going to the beach, spending time with friends and family, and after living in the Philippines for two years, nothing says home like a freshly cooked pot of rice in the rice cooker!

Why I am a Mormon

What a great question! When there are so many other people in the world of other beliefs and faiths that have achieved successful careers, have wonderful families and are genuinely happy and are not Mormon. Why then am I Mormon? Honestly, I can think of only one answer, because I followed an invitation given to me, written in a special little book, called "The Book of Mormon." This invitation reads, "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." I have read the Book of Mormon and asked to know if it is true or not. I know that it is true, and this answer has forever changed my life.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to teach Sunday school to a small class of other young adults, every other month, centered on Jesus Christ and his teachings. On Monday nights, myself and a small group of other students get together to build friendship by playing games together and sharing a gospel message. I'm also lucky to live so close to a Temple. This is a sacred building that we believe to be "The house of the Lord" here on earth. Attending the temple helps me remember who I am, why I am here on earth, and what happens after this life.
