Hi I'm Dave

I grew up in Los Angeles and served as a missionary for 2 years with the amazing people of Mexico. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married (since 1979) with 3 wonderful daughters, 3 great sons-in-law, and 9 terrific grandchildren (so far). I'm a software engineer and enjoy what I do because most of my job is helping people. I enjoy the outdoors (although I think my tent-camping days are behind me now). I enjoy walking, kayaking, gardening, and playing Microsoft Flight Simulator. When I get some spare time I'd love to really learn to play the guitar (right now I just strum chords).

Why I am a Mormon

I have lots of friends of different faiths and from what I can tell their religions make them happy, and I view that as a good thing. They are good people. I guess the reason I am a Mormon is that not only does the gospel, as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, help me to be happier, and more at peace with the world, but it gives me a better understanding of why I'm here on Earth. It's teachings help me to love our Savior, Jesus Christ, more and want to follow His example. It helps me to understand the Atonement and how I can receive forgiveness of my sins. It gives me a real purpose for living.

How I live my faith

I enjoy helping other people. A king in the Book of Mormon told his people that "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God." Being a father myself I know how much it has meant to me when others have done things to help my children and I think our Heavenly Father would feel the same way. Serving others may not always be convenient, but I'm always a little happier after I have done something for someone else.
