Hi I'm Rebecca Burns

I am from England. I'm a Speech Sciences graduate. I have three gorgeous nephews. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am the middle of three children and was raised by my single mum with regular contact from my dad. I am a 'geordie lass' although I spent my most recent years away from the North East qualifying as a speech and language therapist in London. In my youth I was a member of many music societies playing the clarinet, trumpet and singing. I also took tap and modern dance classes. I got part time work as early as I could in life and have been very blessed with job opportunities. I have worked at Buckingham Palace, tutored children, worked as a special needs assistant, supported adults with learning difficulties, worked in call centres and shops, and worked as a babysitter. I also completed a course in face painting at university and volunteer when I can. I love children and when I am not working and/or studying I spend time with my sister and my three gorgeous nephews. I also enjoy camping, travelling, baking, reading fantasy fiction novels and painting my nails.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I have faith in Christ and believe that this is His restored gospel, re-established to show me the way to live so I can achieve the greatest happiness in this life and the next. I was raised to follow the teachings of Christ and was blessed with some great foundations. However, everyone needs to learn for themselves the truthfulness of the gospel. There was a period in my life when I was less obedient and after a particularly heart wrenching break up I decided that I needed to change. I took a good look at myself and realised that I already knew where to find happy relationships and a brighter future. I started attending church again and over time developed my own personal relationship with Christ and felt the healing power of His atonement. Life is still difficult sometimes but I have something I didn't have before - meaning, purpose, and hope for a better future. I wouldn't change that for anything the world has to offer me.

How I live my faith

On Sundays I enjoy giving and listening to talks, offering prayers on behalf of the congregation, singing in the choir and teaching the nursery children. During the week I attend missionary preparation classes and institute classes with other church members my age and enjoy the organised activities afterwards. I also participate in additional service projects when I can, for example supervising the youth on a trip to the temple or wrapping shoe boxes for a Christmas appeal. As of next month I look forward to serving others full time when I leave the UK to serve a mission in Norway.
