Hi I'm Karlee Packer

I love being barefoot. Christ is my Hope. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University. I attended Utah State University as well and I love both schools. As any other college student I have decided to switch degree paths many times. I started out as an art major, pre-illustration, switched to Art Education, and now will be heading down the path of Recreational Therapy. I enjoy anything outdoors! Running, hiking, climbing trees, climbing on roofs, backpacking, camping, fishing, biking, canoeing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, winter camping, rock climbing...you name it and I'll probably want to try it if it involves the outdoors. I hate wearing shoes! I will go barefoot any chance I get and if I can't go barefoot I'll wear my chacos or anything that takes two seconds to slip on. I enjoy all types of music, reading new books, learning about new cultures and people, and spending time with the people I love. I have played the piano since I was eight years old and I also have taught piano, which I absolutely loved! I also enjoy painting and figure drawing. I loved learning about art history because I think art tells so much about the time and the culture of people. I am the oldest of two girls and I love dancing and singing around the house with my sister who is one of my best friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Lord. I know He is real and that He loves me. I have grown up in the gospel, raised in a home with a loving and faithful mother, who taught my sister and I from the scriptures daily. My father is a hardworker, who loves his girls, and has presided over our home in the Priesthood faithfully. I haved always looked ot their examples. Although I was raised in the Church, that didn't mean I had never questioned it was true. I struggled in Junior High to know if it was real, being obedient to what I had learned helped my testimony, but not as much as asking for myself. When I got down on my knees and prayed to my Father in Heaven was when I gained a testimony. Talking with him and telling him of my concerns and fears was how I came to know this gospel is true. I felt His love for me like an overwhelming hug. I was at peace and I knew it was true. Over the years, I have been faced with different trials in my life and I know that the only way I have overcome them is with this gospel. My dad suffers with Mutliple Sclerosis. That is a trial my family faces everyday with him. One day that disease will take his life, but I know that as our family continues to faithful to the covenants we make we will be together forever. There is life after this and we will be with those we have lost and loved if we are united with them by proper authority. This gospel is what brings me true happiness. I am a happy person and can stay positive in the face of trials because of this gospel. This gospel brings me hope and peace in a world that is constantly changing and shifting. I love this gospel! I love the Lord! I love my Savior and Redeemer and I am so grateful to Him. With the Lord nothing is impossible. I can start everyday new with HIs Atonement and become better and try again each day when I falter because of it. Isn't that so great?! I think so.

How I live my faith

I play the piano in the ward and have also had opportunities to serve in other ways. I have served with many wonderful women in Girl's Camps, in leadership callings with the women of the church, I have led music, and helped organized activities such as youth dances, and monthly group activities I have had the joy of teaching girls my age with visiting teaching and becoming good friends with them. I strive to be a happy person because that is was the gospel brings me! I enjoy helping and serving people whether it's physically or even lending a listening ear.
