Hi I'm Derek

I'm a proud Texan. I love my country, my family, and my friends. I love Jesus Christ. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm only a student as of now. I study Math at Brigham Young University, and I'm enrolled in the Air Force ROTC. I've planned on serving my country for a long time, and patriotism is what defines me as a person. I'm the third oldest child of 6. I love everyone in my life. My friends, family, teachers, colleagues, wing men, and especially my dog.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I'm still a Mormon because I want to live with my Father in Heaven again. I live the gospel and keep the Commandments of God because it brings me happiness. Life is hard, but it's bearable if we live like Jesus Christ. Everyone wants to feel respected, accepted, and loved, and the church has brought me all of that. I love this church, and I know the gospel to be true. We can find true happiness in living worthily and being good people. Service, love, compassion, and humility will lead you on the path of Christ. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and his love for the world.

How I live my faith

It isn't easy living as a disciple of Jesus Christ. It starts with small and simple things. My testimony wouldn't be what it is today without my family which taught me everything. My dad always taught me to "be better today than you were yesterday, and be better tomorrow than you were today." I like to think of each day as a new beginning. I ask myself "how can I improve today? What do I need to change or improve about myself?" Every day, I try to apply the Atonement of Jesus Christ to fix my mistakes, to lift my burdens, and to ease my pains, so that I may become closer to returning to my Father in Heaven.
