Hi I'm Lincoln Cook

I was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. I love all sports, music, being with my family and friends, and I'm proud to be a Mormon!

About Me

I love sports! I play football, basketball, golf, and anything else active and fun. I love music; I participated in theater groups and various choirs. My family means more to me then anything else, and I love my family and friends more than anything else. I'm a kid at heart and just love to have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the LDS Church my entire life, and have loved it the whole entire time. Just because my parents are Mormon, does not mean that I have to be. I had to decide for myself if this Church was true. It was never one moment where I knew it, but overtime as I grew to learn the doctrines of the Church and apply those teachings in my life, that I knew that this is the true Church. My parents example of their devotion to the Church, and them being such good people, I could tell that there was something more to the Church. So one day I prayed to God, asking if this is the true church Jesus Christ established while he was on the Earth. No heavenly visitation came, but I felt the Spirit of God testifying to me that the Church is true. Since I have asked God if the Church was true, I can never doubt now. It is part of me. I love it. I will always continue to go to Church and live the standards that it teaches, because I love it so. I love discussing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others because I can feel the Spirit as I testify to others why I am a member of this Church. My goal in life is to share with others what I know to be true through my action, but also by teaching others.

How I live my faith

I love the Church. I am an eagle scout because the Church supports scouting, and I also have held positions in Church offices. I go teaching once a month to specific people in my area, and check up on them, making sure they are doing well and if they need help with anything. Often times members are called on to help people move or have yard work they need help with. We give lots of service in the Church and that brings me true joy. I have learned that when we serve others, we are serving God. I love my Heavenly Father and all that he has blessed me with: my family, friends, skills & abalities, my material possesions. I also have a deep love for my Savior Jesus Christ as he suffered for my sins, and allowed me to be able to repent and lean on him when I need help. I can do nothing without the Savior.

What is being a Mormon like?

Lincoln Cook
Being a Mormon is freaking awesome! It brings so much joy to my life! My friends often said that it is restricting because of our "rules" and that I couldn't have "fun." I would answer that they were the ones who were restricted, and that I can have fun without alcohol. Being a member of the Church has given me answers and insight to my life currently, but gives me an eternal perspective of why I am here. Yes there are many guidlines that are established in the Church, but those are given to help us grow closer to God to obey His commandments. Keeping these commandments allows me to have God's Spirit with me so I can be directed by it to know what's right and wrong. The Church also has wonderful programs for every single person: young mens/womens, releif society (adult women's group), primary (kids younger than 12), and others. These groups are there for us to rely one another and develop friendships. Most of my closest friends I have met and grown close to in these groups. I know they are there for me, and that we have the same beliefs and standards. This brings me great comfort because I know Christ is there for me, but it helps to have friends who are also there for me. Being a Mormon is the best! I love it so much, and want to encourage all who are interested to just test it out. It will bring you joy and testify to you that this is what God wants for you. I promise. I know from experience and I love it! That is why I love teaching others about the Church. Show more Show less
