Hi I'm Cassie

I'm a museum lover, brownie connoisseur, language learner, and perpetual student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying linguistics. I love to travel and learn new languages and cultural customs, and I hope to one day visit every continent! Music is also a passion of mine; singing and playing the piano is always such a stress-reliever and makes me feel like I can express myself. Along with music, I enjoy art history and visiting museums. Brownies are a weakness of mine, especially when paired with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. I'm trying to develop a love for running, but it's coming more slowly (literally). Life is all about trying our best!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, so I feel like my conversion to the gospel was more gradual. Still, though, I remember distinct times when the Spirit truly testified to me that the scriptures are true, the Prophet is called of God, temples are truly the House of God, and the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ are the sure way to have happiness in life. This is why I choose to follow His gospel and be a member of His church. I believe that obedience to the commandments is the perfect equation for long-term happiness and fulfillment. That doesn't mean that it's easy, but it is worth it. I believe that Jesus is God's son, that He was born to Mary, and He grew and progressed as a child on this earth, being tutored by both his earthly father and his Heavenly Father. I know that He lived perfectly, and He willingly suffered and died for my sins so that I can be forgiven of my countless mistakes. I know that He rose on the third day and lives today. This is why I love the gospel-- it gives us such hope! It teaches that there is always another chance for us, no matter how far we've strayed, how much we've messed up, or how lost we feel. Christ knows exactly how we feel, and He knows how to comfort us perfectly. God truly does know us individually; we are His children, and He listens to us and answers us. We are never alone. I know that we have been given the Bible and the Book of Mormon to teach us correct principles and to help guide us; these books are true. Joseph Smith was truly called of God to return Christ's gospel to the earth, and today we have Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who is led by God's word to warn us, teach us, and counsel us. How lucky we are that God never ceases to communicate with His children! This knowledge comforts me and strengthens me to do difficult things and choose the path that Christ has laid for us. I am thankful that God loves me, even as imperfect as I am. I hope to live my life in such a way to make Him pleased with my efforts.

How I live my faith

I love attending my ward every Sunday, especially when I am at college and surrounded by my peers. Being with other people in my same situation, all trying our hardest to live our faith to its fullest, gives me such support. I have been blessed to work a lot with the other young women in my wards through organizing activities, visiting with individuals at least once per month, and simply becoming friends. One of my favorite ways to participate, though, is through music. One thing I love about the church is how much we sing! I feel like I can best share my testimony, beliefs, and faith by singing praises to my Heavenly Father.
