Hi I'm Jared

I am a student, an Uncle, a Brother, a son and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and spending time with them. I learned that on a whole different level when I went on a church mission to Ecuador Guayaquil for two years from February 2013 to January 2015 where I served the Lord Jesus Christ and sacrificed being away from my family at that time. I learned so many lessons there and came to know that the church is true not by what others told me, but by what I learned and felt. After returning home from Ecuador I returned to studying General Studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho. On the side I love playing with my Nephew Ryker and my niece Tinless and of course going to BYU Football games with my dad, a tradition we have had since I was 4. I love sports, but I have learned that they are not everything in this life and not where are happiness comes from. Happiness comes from the peace that we receive has we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and apply them into our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born into a family that was Mormon and I grew up in the church and was taught about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and modern day Prophets from the time I was a little boy. As I grew older I believed these things but I don't think I knew them on a very deep level until I took the time to Pray and ponder and find out for myself if the things which I have been taught are true. The answer I got was that they most Definitely were true, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. He saw God the Father and the Son and he translated the Book of Mormon and it is also another testament of Jesus Christ, and its word are true and will give you more strength and help then you can even imagine. I also know that there is a modern day prophet that was called by God and that Prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. I do not know that these things are true because some one told me they were true I KNOW they are true because I prayed and pondered about these things and this is how I know that they are true! I know that the only way that you can find out if this church is true is for you to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. also you can pray about any other concerns you have about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I love living my faith and it isn't as hard as some people think. For me on a daily basis the first thing I do when I roll out of bed is pray to my father in heaven, thank him for the day and ask him to strengthen me in that day. Next I try to read the Book of Mormon or other Scriptures like The Bible before I go to school or do other activities. I do this not because someone tells me to, but from the difference I can feel as I read and ponder the scriptures it really does give me the strength I need to fight off the temptations of satan. Also going to Church on Sundays is a very important part for me because this is where we take the sacrament which gives us a chance to recommit ourselves to the Lord and his will. Going to church fills what I like to call my spiritual gas tanks that little by little become empty as the week goes on and through the Savior and his Atonement I can receive the strength I need for the upcoming week. My favorite thing that I do daily is before going to bed I love to end it with a prayer and conversing with my Father in Heaven and telling him how my day went. A prayer for me just isn't words, but rather it is what helps me grow my relationship with Him. I wouldn't go a day without talking to my parents even while being a busy college student and that does not change with my father in heaven, I love him and show him that by talking to him daily through prayer. This might not be all, but for me this is the basics that make all the difference.

What is faith?

What is Faith? Faith is something that I hold very dear to my heart because to me faith is hope and it gives me strength and encouragement it helps to hold me together when times get hard. Faith is not something that you can just wake up to one day and say I have faith, no it is something that you must work for through prayer and studying the scriptures and more prayer. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it will ever come but if you just start out with a little bit of faith I know that from there it cannot be controlled and it can become a very sacred and powerful thing to you. A little phrase that I like to say when my faith is lacking is, Faith is increased by faith. I know that all you must do to have faith is trust in your heavenly father. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

As a member's of The Church we think of Grace in the same way as all religions that it is has the power to save us from our sins and mistakes, but for me and other members of the church there is another part of it. Not to many people talk about the strength that we can we receive on a daily basis because of what Jesus Christ has done for us. I think to often we think that we have a good day because they just happen once in a while and not that it was because the Savior of the world gave us the strength to make it a great day. Have you ever had a day when you got home and couldn't understand how you made it through? This is a perfect example of the enabling power or grace, Jesus Christ in this day helped you to do more then you could on your own. For me this is what Grace is and we can ask for it on a daily basis on not just when we have sinned, but rather it can strengthen me daily. It helps me to achieve my full potential and become something that I couldn't on my own. Show more Show less
