Hi I'm Dillon Durrant

I am a student at Brigham Young University. I am majoring in Theatre and Media Arts, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending Brigham Young University. I am studying Theatre Arts, but am going to apply to the Media Arts (film) major as well! Some day, I would like to work in the video / show business for a group such as the Church, BYU, or even Disney! In my free time, I like to make stop-motion Lego videos! It is a time-consuming process that involves taking a picture of Legos, moving them a bit, and then taking another picture. Rinse and repeat! I have recently received my mission call, and will be serving in the beautiful Finland, Helsinki mission! I will be learning Finnish, one of the most difficult languages to learn!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, so attendance was always a given for me. It wasn't until several years into my life that I realized what kept me coming back. For me, one of the greatest blessings of living the standards of the Church is having the constant guidance of the Holy Ghost. While some may say they are lost, confused, or unsure of life around my age, I have the Spirit to help me make good choices. If I didn't have the Spirit's direction and comfort, I may not have made it as far as I have now. Another blessing of the Spirit that I have felt is the comfort it brings to all who hold it. Only two years ago, when I was a Junior in high school, my mother passed away after an 8-year battle with cancer. While the event truly was hard to go through, I felt the Lord with me through the entire thing. I knew that, because of God's plan that lets families be together forever, there was no reason to be sad: it wasn't a "goodbye," it was a "see you later." That blessing was worth more to me than anything else I could have hoped for.

How I live my faith

In my church, I am currently helping to teach the class on how to be an effective missionary. This involves teaching good study habits, gospel doctrine, or ways to approach and talk to people. I have learned so much by fulfilling this calling, and hope to apply these techniques when I serve my own mission! I recently also received a calling to teach in my home ward, serving in the Primary! A friend and I taught the 6 year old class. While it did have its challenges, and the wiggles often were more powerful than my teaching, I was able to see how sweet and holy the children are.
