Hi I'm Mary Carson Day

An engineering student. A sports geek. A full-time missionary. And I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm first and foremost a closet Harry Potter nerd. I play fantasy football and I'm the biggest Miami heat fan you'll ever meet. I love to blog and I always have an opinion. I'm also a student studying Mechanical Engineering at the best school in the nation - Georgia Tech. I am an avid sports enthusiast, and I love my Yellow Jackets. One of my big goals in life is to save someone elses. I gave up on the pre-med train when I realized that grade inflation doesn't exist at engineering colleges, but I'm determined to make a difference in my life. I wan't to contribute to my community and show love on a global scale. I'm really passionate about my dreams, and I love reaching my goals. I follow the Eleanor Roosevelt ideaology that suggests that the future belongs to those that believe in the beauty of their dreams. How blessed I consider myself to have been born in an age where I can pursue my goals and I'm grateful for a family that has been ever supportive of all my endeavors. I am a believer in progress and am constantly searching for new ways to turn my weaknesses into strengths. I often wonder what I could capable of achieving if I knew that I could not fail.Throughout life, I hope to develop an appreciation of the world around me and to make my brief stint on Earth count.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not perfect. And I don't believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is for perfect people. The gospel is for imperfect people striving to be not only better, but their best. My big weakness in life is that I overanalyze. I think alot and I have alot of questions. But despite all these questions, the gospel still makes sense to me. I used to think I was so blessed to have been born in the church. Certainly I would have never sought out faith otherwise...I really don't like rules or authority. But life has handed me some experiences that have challenged not only my faith, but my character. And without going through those trials, I'm not sure my appreciation for the gospel and atonement of Jesus Christ would be what it is today. The beautiful nature of Christ's sacrifice is that it does not only apply to sin. In the Garden of Gethsemane, the Savior of the world took upon every heartache and sadness ever experienced. He can relate to us when we are most alone in this world. He knows our hearts when we feel betrayed or scared. I am a defender of this gospel because this is the restored church on the face of the earth today. I can think of no better way to demonstrate my love for the Savior and my gratitude for his sacrifice than by being a part of His church.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a full time missionary called to serve a mission in Tokyo, Japan for 18 months.
