Hi I'm Charles

I grew up as a military brat. I have metastatic cancer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My father is a doctor in the military so I grew up throughout the US and England. I was diagnosed with metastatic cancer when I was ten years old. I have had it for the last nine years, and I have gone through many different treatments from surgery to chemotherapy. I now serve as a missionary in the Utah Salt Lake city mission. I studied chemistry for a year at school, and I enjoy reading and swimming.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family, but no matter who you are or where you are born everyone who becomes an active member in the church of Jesus Christ has a conversion story. My conversion began during the time I was very sick with cancer. There were many times where I was too tired to stand, to do much but sit in bed and read. During these times I began to ask questions "Is there a God?" "Does he love me?" It was during this time I began to pray earnestly for an answer. I found my answer as I searched. I know that God is there and does speak to us and answer our questions to give us hope and strength. I also know the Book of Mormon and Bible are the word of God.

How I live my faith

I have done my best to try to follow the example of my Savior Jesus Christ by serving him and my fellow man. I have served as a teacher in my church group. I have also served as a volunteer in a number of service groups such as tutoring programs and red cross programs. I now serve as a missionary for my church in Salt Lake City.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. He literally has saved me from those mistakes I make and helped me go forward. We believe that Christ is the Son of God. He suffered that through following him and being baptized we can come back to him. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes there are many important things God has commanded us to do and has taught us throughout the ages. He does this through the prophets. In the time of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt he sent Moses to guide them to their promised land and teach them the way they should live. He sent prophets later to warn the people of Israel to change or face destruction. The Apostles were sent out to preach about Jesus Christ and how to follow him. Today nothing has changed. We still need to be warned of danger and taught the right way to live in order to return to God. He has sent us guides and mouthpieces to teach us and guide us today these are the prophets. How can I know Mormonism is true?

God has set a way for us to be able to know if the LDS church is true through very simple means. It involves asking him which church is his through prayer and study of his word, the scriptures. A promise is given that if we study the Book of Mormon and ask if the Book of Mormon is true sincerely with the intention of acting on the answer you receive then he shall answer through the Holy Ghost. If the Book of Mormon is true there is no way it could exist today unless Joseph Smith was a prophet and this is God's Church on Earth. We can recognize the Holy Ghost through the good feelings we will get in our heart and mind. Show more Show less
