Hi I'm Betsy

I grew up in a family of 14. I play the fiddle. I love performing in our family band. I am a member of the LDS church.

About Me

I am the third daughter and eleventh child born to goodly parents who love the Lord and have instilled that love in me! I live with my parents and nine of my siblings and we enjoy working together as a family performing bluegrass, gospel, and oldies music for the local nursing homes, churches, and other community events. I am a junior in an online college program and am going to be taking a break from school so that I can spend the next 18 months serving the Lord as a full-time missionary in the Washington D.C. South mission.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have taught me about Jesus Christ and His gospel since before I can remember and they spoke with such conviction and assurance that they were telling me the truth that I just believed them. As I grew older I realized that I needed to know for myself if they were telling me the truth and I could not just live on "borrowed light". Well I started really studying the scriptures and praying sincerely to come t know if what my parents was teaching me was really the truth. Very quietly the Holy Spirit of God would whisper peace to my heart. I came to know for myself that God lives and that He hears and answers our prayers. I learned through very personal experiences that through His grace weak things become strong. There were many times that I knew that I could NOT do what God had asked me to do, but as long as I pressed forward in faith, I found that I ALWAYS had the strength to finish His work. I experienced the power of forgiveness in my life as I applied the atonement into my life. As I look back over the last few years I have found that everything that my parents taught me is not just something that they made up. I can testify that Jesus Christ lives and that He paid the price of my sins in that Garden long ago and that it is only through living his doctrine and receiving the ordinances that were restored to Joseph Smith, that we can be saved.

How I live my faith

My goal in life is to be a faithful disciple of Christ and I feel so blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In our area, "mormons" didn't have a good name but over the past few years through our music ministry we have been able to build bridges with the people in our community and have been able to share our love of Christ with them. They have come to see that we, "mormons", do believe in Jesus Christ and we have been able to build relationships of trust and understanding by building on that common belief. We have gone from being kicked out of a nursing home for the "best interest of the residence" to being asked to play gospel music at local church services. It has been a marvelous experience!
