Hi I'm Kathy Erikson

I am blessed to be a mother of five children. I'm a full time homemaker, pto mom, coach and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a stay at home mom! My family is my first priority. I've enjoyed being my kids softball and baseball coach, 4-h teacher, the pto president, and a volunteer for the junior miss program. In my spare time I like to garden, organize things, and spend time with our extended family at our cabin. I like to travel and the more places I see the more I want to go. Currently I'm serving in the church as the Stake Young Women's camp director. It's a challenging calling for me since I never camped a day in my life growing up with the exception of young women's camp. I love working with the youth and also serve in the Relief Society presidency.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't imagine living in this world without having the gospel in my life. It gives me direction and helps me want to be a better person. The commandments and teachings of the church help me as a mother to direct my children how to live their lives and make decisions. I have always had a testimony of the Mormon church. I have never doubted its truthfulness and my testimony has held me up through many trials in my life. My oldest daughter was born with severe handicaps and needed constant care. She was a little angel in my life and brought such a sweet spirit and light to our home. I was broken hearted when she returned to live with her Heavenly Father at the age of five but I am grateful to have had her example in my life and the knowledge that I will be with her again thanks to my sealing in the temple to a wonderful husband. I know families are forever and look forward to the day when she is reunited with the rest of our family. Knowing I have someone on the other side looking out for me helps me strive to be a better person and helps me want to serve others the way Christ served us so I can have the opportunity to live with both my daughter and Savior again.

How I live my faith

I love the focus on service and how each member looks after one another. In these trying times it is nice to know that when temptations come I have already made decisions in my life that will help me to always choose the right. I've been blessed with parents who were great examples to me. They taught me to not only serve in my church but to serve in the community. My callings in the church have given me the opportunity to expand my talents and learn how to "walk in another's shoes". My husband is full of encouragement and helps keep our family on track with daily prayer and scripture reading. I try to pattern my life after the Savior who was the perfect example of what a Latter-Day Saint and Christian should be. My oldest son is serving a mission right now in Sweden and I am excited for the opportunity he has daily to spread the message of the gospel and its goodness to others.
