Hi I'm Desni

I'm a convert, a writer, and a friend who loves kickboxing, running, and strengthening my faith. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a pretty active person, who loves to write, exercise, hike, and spend time with the important people in my life. I just love laughing and have a good time. My family is one of the most important things in my life, no matter what happens between us. I am an only child who has adopted so many people as my family throughout my treks in life. Friends are also a huge part of my life, as well as volunteering as a personal trainer for anyone interested in living a healthier life, as I still strive to meet my own goals. I always try to be a friend to people, and be there for them no matter what. Everyone deserves to know they are loved. My hobbies include anything outdoors, anything that involves challenging myself, and going to new places. Currently, I am working in a retail store, attending college, and doing my best to get as close to Heavenly Father as I can. I have so much to learn about myself and about Him. I won't know everything, but He will let me know what I need to.

Why I am a Mormon

A few years ago, my life did a complete 180. Things were not good. Every day and night I prayed with such sincerity, knowing that everything happens for a reason but not wanting to face it. I prayed, but I was the furthest away from God that I have ever been. It was the worst time of my life and the darkest. I have, however, always followed my intuition in life, because it always leads me in the right direction. One day, I was invited to a Mormon church event, which I wanted to deny, but eventually I gave into my feelings. The missionaries at the church spoke to me, and I was instantly intrigued. A few days later I had my first meeting. And I started to pray. At first, I did not have the intent, and ignored any answers. Baptism was a scary subject. But a couple months later, I received my first blessing. The blessing was the most amazing thing I have experienced to this point in my life. I could literally feel the Holy Ghost inside of me. That was overwhelming. I ended up crying out of relief. I knew at that moment that the church was true. Soon after, I watched blessings come to life and the gospel change my life firsthand. It made my belief even stronger. Thankfully, amazing missionaries, who sacrifice so much to bring others to God, and amazing members came into my life and helped bring me back to God. I will never be a perfect human, but I will always be loved by Him. To my missionaries, I will forever be grateful for helping me show my love to Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

By the time I was baptized a month (recent convert), I have brought many new faces to the church. I hope that they will find the same truth I have in the church, or simply become closer to their God in whatever religion they believe in. Either way, I gain friendship and a closeness with people that can only be achieved through God. I go to church when I am able, and am in the process of teaching/preparing lessons. I don't plan to go on a mission, but I hope to do missionary work from home and one day go on a mission with my husband when/if I get married. I deeply love missionary work, considering that it has brought me to happiness. My purpose here is to help others, and missionary work allows me to do just that. I receive so much joy for the work that I do now, and so many blessings, that I would not change it for anything.
