Hi I'm Doug

I,m a convert, I joined the church at age forty as did my wife and two children, We are mormons

About Me

I,m a retired Archarologist, and have three children, thirteen grandchildren and 31 and two halves great grandchildren. I, eighty years old and still ride my mountain bike several times a week! My mom lived to be one hundred and she said that the secret was you have to keep moving!

Why I am a Mormon

I was converted to the church by studying a book called " Archaeology and Book of Mormon" As an archaeologist I had been studying the Mayan culture in Mexico and became fisinated by the history in the book of Mormon. I then was told that I needed to pray and read and ponder this book and ask god if it was true. when I did this the holy spirt confermed to me that it was true. I was biptised and recieved the holy ghost by one who had the arthoirty. I have sence learned that the Book of Mormon gives us such a great number of scriptures that help us to understand the Bible and thus better understand the lord path. I have learned beond a shadow of doubt that the lords church has been reistatlished on the Earth and that Elijah is now with us and that this is the seventh and last dispensation. I am so greatful to those that started me on this path and supported me along the way.

How I live my faith

I go to church every sunday and keep the sabbeth day holy. I am an assestant scout master and teach gospel principles each sunday. My wife and I have 5 familes that we visit each month to share the gospels and to watch out for each others needs.I have volunteered for the NPS at an interpretation archaeologist. I talk over the fence to all of my neighbors and watch out for any way that I might be able to serve them. My wife and I go on and participate in the camps for the Boy Scouts of America. We try to be involved in our community in any way that we can.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?
