Hi I'm Christina

I am a Texan and always will be. I love camping, laughing, learning, and a good adrenaline rush. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a younger sister and 2 younger brothers, leaving me as the oldest (and therefore the wisest and most responsible- not) of the 4 of us :) I am majoring in microbiology, hoping to go on to vet school or studying pathology in grad school. I love being with my family and friends whenever possible. I love road trips, camping, laughing, singing loudly and poorly, reading, going to midnight premiers, sledding, live music, The Lion King 1 & 2, and most of all, I love the Gospel. I am leaving soon to serve as a missionary for the church, the best decision I have made thus far, and I cannot wait to see what Heavenly Father has in store for me!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was baptized at 8 years old, my family stopped going to church almost right after that. I started going to activities (church camp, youth activities, etc) when I was 12, after being invited by my Aunt who was serving in the youth program. It was over the course of these years as a youth that I truly gained my testimony of the Gospel and of the LDS church. When I turned 16 I would take my sister and I to church every Sunday, just the 2 of us. In many ways I am grateful I had to attend church all of those years alone, without the support of my parents. It helped me to know, on my own, that God loves ME, that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on Earth, that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and he did see God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I know that it only through using the Atonement that I can return to live with my Father in Heaven, and what a grand day that will be when I can stand before Him, in His glory, knowing that I never have to leave Him again. Life is not easy, and it is not supposed to be easy. I am here to be tested, tried, and perfected. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can my weaknesses become strengths. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can I attain everlasting happiness. Only through Jesus Christ can I do all things, both large and small, both hard and easy. I love My Savior with all of my heart. I know Heavenly Father loves ME with ALL of His heart, because He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for ME. And I know Jesus Christ loves me, because He was willing to take upon all of my sins and infirmities, to be betrayed and crucified, so that I can return to live with Heavenly Father. My mother has now been active in the church for 2 years, after 20 years of not attending, and my father, though not a member of the LDS church (yet!) attends with us now as well. I want everyone to feel the love I feel, and know the truthfulness of the gospel, as I do. So please come, come unto Him, and feel of His love and His truth.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite things about the church is the strong theme of service. I learned early on how important giving service is, how it can change a person's day, or a person's life, by simply giving them a helping hand. I look forward to serving my fellow brethren in my community and all around the world. Christ lived the perfect life and He gave His all, served with His whole being, during His time here on Earth. I can think of no better way to show my faith in Him than by serving His children. Another passion of mine is going to institute, or bible study. I love delving into the scriptures, learning more about His gospel through the words of His prophets. Every time I go to class I gain a new perspective and outlook on scriptures I may, or may not have, already read a hundred times before. I am also on the institute council. This leaves me in charge of planning ways to better involve other students in learning, helping class members to feel loved and welcome, and inviting all to come learn more of Him. As a council member I also help plan fun activities that invite the Spirit and allow us to fellowship and create lasting friendships. I love helping plan these activities, especially when I can see the fruits of my labors when an activity goes smoothly and people have a good time. I have been a counselor at girls camp for several years now and it is my absolute favorite thing. I love watching the girl's testimony grow. I love the silly and fun things we do when hundreds of girls get together for a week of camping and learning. I love watching the younger girls (12-18) grow, the chance I have to be a good example, and most importantly, I love learning from them. In the end, I simply love living my faith.
