Hi I'm Corey

I'm a husband, father of three girls and a boy. I am a sports marketer. I've run six marathons and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a co-worker, a friend, a volunteer, an athlete. I struggle as much as the next guy who is trying to balance the needs of a family, career, church, community, and personal life. I've played sports all of my life. Mostly football, basketball, baseball, and soccer. About 14 years ago when it became harder and harder to be involved in team sports, I decided to take up running. While I don't particularly care for running when I'm doing it, I do really like how it makes me feel when I'm done. Plus, I have a major sweet tooth and if I'm running I don't feel as guilty satisfying that craving. I often listen to books on tape while I'm running. I especially enjoy historical fiction, particularly stories about World War II. My grandfather was killed in the war and WWII historical fiction offers a perspective about what life may have been like for my grandpa before he was killed. One of my greatest joys in life comes from watching my three girls and one boy grow up fast. My oldest is engaged to be married and my youngest just reach the teenage years. Two are in college, one in high school, and one in middle school. They've all had their successes and failures, happy days and depressed days and we enjoy celebrating and comforting them. I sing in a community choir. I'm not much of a solo singer but I enjoy blending my voice with others to make music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it answers the basic questions of life...Where did I come from before I was born? What is my purpose of life? And what will happen to me after I die? The answers to these questions bring peace to my soul and give me a reason to live a Christian lifestyle.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and during the week I do my best to live the commandments and treat others with kindness and respect. I try to remember to say my prayers and read scriptures every day but sometimes I'm too tired or distracted. I'll have my bad days where I find myself yelling at the car in front of me to pay attention to the traffic signals. But thankfully I believe there is much more to our eternal life than just what we do on this earth and that gives me perspective, hope and the motivation to avoid taking any experiences too seriously.
