Hi I'm Stirling

I grew up in Ogden, Utah. I plan on teaching high school, and eventually become a college professor. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to write and one day hope to become a novelist. I enjoy movies and have an eclectic music taste. I love reading, and am often reading two or three books at a time. I will go to college for Secondary English Education and Creative Writing, to eventually teach English in high school. Then I plan on going to graduate school for creative writing, to eventually teach creative writing as a college professor. I look for interesting stories wherever I can find them. Between various media's, video games, movies, books, etc., and people, the world is filled with stories that deserve to be heard.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this Gospel. From my first memories, I remember being part of this church, but I have had my own conversion. In high school, I fell away from the church and went in search for a gospel that was true. I searched many places, even non-christian religions. I looked for a year, going to many churches. I refused to take the sacrament and only attended sacrament meetings because my parents asked that I give the LDS church just as much chance as any other. I'm very thankful to them that they made that request. I returned to the church after a year of searching, and when I'd finally made the decision in my mind that yes, I am a Mormon, the overwhelming feeling of comfort, love, and joy filled me. The Spirit told me, without a doubt, that this is the true church of Christ. I believe that the LDS gospel is true, that through its principles and teachings, true happiness can be found. I believe that through the Spirit, we can learn to who we are and where we come from. We are Children of God, with all the potential that implies. We have a Heavenly Father who wants, with all of his heart, for us to return to Him. He wants to provide us with happiness, joy and peace. He wants everything in eternity to be ours, but knows that he can not force that happiness on us. We must choose Him and His way. We must seize the blessings He so dearly wants to provide for us. I know that through prayer, we can receive personal revelation, personal messages from our Heavenly Father. We can receive guidance for the trials we struggle through in the present. We can receive answers to our questions and comfort in our lives through the simple act of prayer to Him. I believe that the power of the priesthood is the power to act in God's stead here on Earth. I also know that we are the only Church to have that power, and the responsibility to use it appropriately. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God. I know he receives words of truth from God. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living what I learn. I've grown up in the gospel and have learned it's principles across many years. I try to keep my life in order with the righteous path and am constantly working to grow closer to my Savior through the simple and easy things. I study my gospel, the scriptures and the words of the living prophet. I pray often and keep my actions centered on Christ as often as I can. I participate in my faith by caring for those around me and sharing insights from the Spirit when appropriate. When I have a calling, I do all I can to magnify and fulfill that calling.
