Hi I'm Daniel

I'm a musician, a jazz enthusiast, and lover of fine cuisine. I have a wonderful life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! I am a newlywed college student who was supposed to graduate 2 semesters ago but am quickly finding that I have more interests and talents than I previously thought! My wife and I are both musicians; she's a violinist, I play string bass. I also enjoy being in front of the camera. I enjoy entertaining people. I enjoy hearing others laugh. I enjoy listening to talk radio, but have a liking for classical music down to classic rock. Learning news things is key for me. I get lost in books and encyclopedias trying to learn more and more. The desire to learn sometimes overcomes me and causes me to lose sleep. I enjoy learning about different cultures, and different phenomena and concepts that I didn't know before. However my favorite is to be with people. I enjoy being with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Ok, so I admit it. I was born into an active Mormon family. I grew up going to church every Sunday, and participating in family scripture study and prayer every day. My parents taught us kids correct gospel principles, and we were sometimes disobedient, but I would like to think we tried most of the time. Despite being born into this "culture", it was never forced onto me. I really never felt that my parents forced me to go to church, or early morning seminary (gospel classes for youth offered every school day at 6 AM). I knew they wanted me to go and cared deeply about my spiritual salvation, but never forced me to. Then off to college I went! I found that now I was on my own. I was to decide my own destiny. This offered me a first hand experience to feel the Lord and his tender mercies in my life. It was through these months away from home, as well as the gradual building of testimony that occurred in my youth, that I came to realize that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was correct. Having a testimony given to me through the spirit, there is no denying it now. I have become a full fledged and active member of the Church, who strives to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ every day.

How I live my faith

I like to believe that I am an ever progressing member of the church. That is what this church is about: Progression. I live my faith by being an example, and trying to use every opportunity to teach what I can about the gospel. In my congregation, I play the organ. I believe the use of music to be a key worship aspect. The Lord and his spirit are felt through the strains of music. The Lord has told us that "the prayer of the righteous is a prayer unto (the Lord), and is answered with a prayer upon (our) heads." I also enjoy actively participating in gospel classes offered. I believe that we are all teachers, and that each person is moved by the spirit at different times to provide insight. Worship in the LDS faith is a personal goal, but is achieved easiest with the help of those around us.
