Hi I'm Kathy

I'm a translation and interpretation student. I teach Spanish, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of eight kids and I'm studying translation and interpretation at university. I speak Spanish and I love it. I also speak a bit of Portuguese and am learning American Sign Language... I love learning to communicate with people.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I feel that I've learned so much that I wouldn't have learned anyplace else. It really is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the same pure gospel He preached when he was on the earth. I know for myself that Christ is the Son of God and this has made all the difference.

How I live my faith

I go to church each Sunday, participating in Sunday school and Sundays meetings, where I can take the sacrament (bread and water in remembrance of Christ).

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

This is a question that's important to me because I am a woman. I am proud to be a woman and that women are different than men! I believe God understands the differences and the strengths of women and men more perfectly than we know, and He has granted us each sacred responsibilities that will help us the most in our progress. One sacred responsibility women have is that of nurturing, and nurturing families. Men have been given the sacred responsibility of the priesthood. There is also the women's organization which exists in the church, the Relief Society: an organization led by women and for women, under the direction of the priesthood. Of course, there are other places that women lead and teach formally in the church too, but our presence and our voice is there even if we individually are not "leaders". There are many ways for men and women to lead even when they are not what someone might think of as a leader. Show more Show less
