Hi I'm Garrett Minkler

I was born in England to an American family, I played bass trombone in a Utah Jazz band, I'm an adventurer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from high school in 2012. I love many kinds of music, both as a listener and a performer. I play trombone and also dabble in Native American flute. I enjoy stories about medieval times, related fantasy, and just Warfare in general- Lord of the Rings, Art of War, armor and weaponry, etc. I'm a strong believer in modern-day heroes, and I firmly believe that we can be like them. I love being in natural settings: mountains, forests, National Parks. I have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and am looking forward to serving my Lord in the mission field during 2013 and 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. From my earliest days, I attended Church with them, and we prayed and studied the gospel together. However, I have come to know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Joseph Smith is the prophet who restored the fulness of the Gospel and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet on the earth today. I gained this testimony through personal study and prayer leading to the witness of the Holy Spirit.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my Young Single Adults ward. I'm assigned as a Home Teacher, which means that I visit a few other assigned members each month to make sure they are okay, teach a brief spiritual message and help them with any concerns that they have. I also live at home and participate in spiritual activities with my family - family prayer, family scripture reading, Family Home Evening. I pray and study the scriptures every day on my own. I will depart for a church mission in Northern California (Santa Rosa) in January 2013.
