Hi I'm Mekenna Murphy

I'm a student, wannabe photographer, and I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student and Southern Utah University studying Elementary Education. I love kids so I think this is the perfect field for me! I try to be a photographer, but sadly my images never come out the way I plan. I love being outdoors, doing just about anything. I grew up in a very active family so if I am not playing a game or moving around things are just not right. I have played the piano since I was young, and I love sitting down and pushing those black and white keys. Christ has always been in the center of my life, have always strived to live worthily and my life is amazing because of it. I love my family, they are the strength in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I absolutely, without a doubt know that this church is true. I love my life and what it consists of. There is no greater pleasure than knowing that there is life after death, which gives my life purpose and direction. Life is scary and we all feel lost at times, but through this wonderful church I have found a reason for my existence. This wonderful church (the church of Jesus Christ of Later day Saints) promotes service and giving. When I look back on my life, I know that there is no greater blessing than serving others. This concept is the key to our religion, "love thy neighbor as thyself." This commandment can solve any problem and I love that! The world today is scary, there are dark times ahead and you know what I am not scared. I know that through my Heavenly Father I will be protected and blessed (if I keep the commandments and strive to live righteously) which is not hard. I am a Mormon, and I am proud to say that I believe in Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. These three beings give me strength and guidance. They are the greatest tutors a student could have. I have chosen to follow the commandments of the prophets, and I know without a doubt that what they say is true. There is no greater blessing than being a part of this church. It gives me a sense of belonging and purpose in life. I am a truly happy person, and isn't that what we all want?

How I live my faith

I am going to be honest, living my faith is not as hard as people lead on. I strive to make good choices not because I have been commanded to live righteously but because it is was makes me truly happy. If you haven't done this I highly encourage you to. Sit down and really think about your life, where you are and what you have become. All the events in our lives are what makes us who we are, and as I have made certain choices, good and bad I am a better person. I want to be happy, completely and full heartedly I can say that I am happy with who I am, where my life has headed and I am prepared for the future. By reading my scriptures, attending church, paying my tithing, and listening to wholesome music I am can say that I proud of the person I am becoming. Faith by definition is believing in things which cannot be seen. I believe in God, just because I cannot physically see him doesn't mean I don't feel his presence when I am doing something of worth. He makes me happy, and the only way an individual can be completely happy is through him. He is the source of all happiness, Heavenly Father is the reason why we all strive to make good choices. I know that if I read my scriptures and pray I will have that pure love of God remain inside me.
