Hi I'm Maggie

I grew up in Florida. I now go to Brigham Young University where I am studying special education, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University where I am studying special education. I love special needs children. They are my favorite! Some of my hobbies are that I play golf and soccer. I love sports! I am a huge University of Florida fan, and I watch every football game they play. I also love spending time with friends and family. I love getting to just relax, and talk about fun things going on in life. I also love watching Disney movies. They are pretty much the best movies ever and they are clean, which makes them even better. I'm just a normal young adult going to school and enjoying life. I love the Gospel with all of my heart, and it has helped make me the person I am today. I have been truly blessed, and I am so grateful for it.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 12 years old, my mother passed away from cancer. I really struggled through the year after, and the thing that helped the most was the Gospel. I knew that I could turn to the Lord with any struggles I was having, and he would help me through them. I felt like the weight was lifted off of my shoulders as I prayed to my Heavenly Father and read my scriptures to feel of the Spirit. Once I finally felt like I had finally made it through that trial and I could move on with my life, my dad was diagnosed with cancer the week before Christmas. I was only 17 years old, and I felt like my life was over. I felt like Heavenly Father wanted me to struggle throughout life, and I was very upset with my Father in Heaven. When I began to pray, my heart was full and I knew that my Heavenly Father still loved me. I realized that this was just another trial of my faith, and Heavenly Father knew I could make it through the trial. I know that I will see my mom again. I know that trials happen for a reason and that Heavenly Father will not give us something we cannot handle. I am so very grateful for the trials I have been through, and I know through those trials that my Heavenly Father truly loves me and wants me to succeed. Through these experiences, I was able to see why I am a member of His church. Without the church, I would not have been able to make it through those experiences. I would have never been able to go throughout each day with a smile on my face, thanking my Heavenly Father for the blessings he has given me in my life. I am so very grateful for what has been put in my path, and I know that these are some of the reasons for why I am a Mormon and will continue to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In my community, I teach a class to women once a month on lessons such as how to be more kind or how to use certain standards in our lives. I love getting to teach this class because the women always have the best stories to tell of how they served or participated in something. I feel as if through their stories make my testimony grow, and I am able to become a better person through the things they share in the class. I also participate in visiting teaching, which is when you go and visit other women in the ward and just talk with them and make sure everything is going well in their lives, and then you also have a lesson with them. I honestly feel as if the girls I visiting teach are some of my closest friends. We can talk about anything, and we are able to work out the problems or the stress that each of us are feeling. The Spirit is so strong when I go visiting teaching because it is as if those lessons are not only meant for the girls, but also for me as the teacher. I truly love both of my callings as a teacher and as a visiting teacher because I am able to grow through the other girl's examples and they are able to learn through the things being taught to them.
