Hi I'm Troy

I was born in Utah, study acoustics in Pennsylvania, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of an energetic boy and happy husband. Recently I got a bachelor's degree in physics and am now currently studying for a master's degree in acoustics. I love music and how things sound, and I'm learning to play the piano. One of my favorite things to do is snowboard. While most people dread winter I long for it each year. It's something I look forward to doing with my son and our future children. In the summer I mountain bike, camp and wakeboard. My wife and I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, watching TV programs and movies, and playing board games together. We are both active learners and are always challenging each other to learn new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the things I have felt and experienced. With the coming of the communication age, a lot of things are said about the church online. In fact, the Mormon church has been in the spotlight more in the last couple of years than ever before. Many things that are said are trying to cast a negative light on the church or disprove its veracity. While some of the things that are said may be true, and some may not be, it does not matter to me. They are minor things compared to the things I have felt. It is not something I can easily explain and is something that that one must experience for themselves. At times in my life when I have had doubts, I like Peter say. "to whom shall [I] go?" and always remember the things I have felt. I know that God is my Heavenly Father and that Christ is His son. Christ suffered and died for my sins and all mankind's as well. He was resurrected and through Him I can overcome my sins and I will be resurrected one day as well. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that we have a living prophet on the earth today. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God, in addition to the Bible and that it was translated by Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I serve weekly in the Mormon church by teaching the 12-13 year old boys the principles of the church and help prepare them for adulthood and to serve as missionaries in the church. Along with this, I am an assistant scoutmaster and love mentoring young men and helping them learn new and exciting things. My own experience as a boy scout and in earning my Eagle help me accomplish that. My wife and I attend church each Sunday and are actively involved in the various activities that go on monthly.
