Hi I'm Zach

I love people, I'm a graphic designer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, right now I am 20 years old. I finished a year of college where I was studying communications. There I fell in love with graphic design and just knew that it was going to be a part of my life in the future. I feel that design and the way it communicates to people's lives is kind of magical. It has been amazing to see how a simple design can influence the way that we think, feel, or desire. Currently, I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, learning French. It has always been a dream of mine to learn French, so I consider this a tremendous blessing in my life; in more ways than one.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon...? That's a very good question. I am a Mormon because I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's kingdom on the earth today. I grew up in LDS church, but never really believed in it. I just went through the motions - going to church, participating in my youth group, doing stuff with my family - but I never really did more than what was asked. Of course, as I got older, I did as almost all teenagers do and kind of did my own thing. I still went to church, but I think more because it's what my parents wanted me to do, and so it was easy just to do it. As well as, I loved the atmosphere and always wondered what made everyone so happy all the time. It was just nice to be around so many happy people. This went on for years and so by the time I turned 19 (usually the age when young men go on a mission for the LDS church), I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. And so I remember one day my mom came to me and we started talking. We talked about a mission and if that was something I wanted. I remember I was really uncertain, and so my mom asked me (something along these lines), "If you knew it was what you should do, would you go?" I remember thinking about that hard. I told her that yes, if I knew it was what I should do, then I would go. So that next Sunday, we both fasted and prayed for that answer. I received that answer at church. It was like being enveloped in the warmest and safest-feeling arms that you can possibly imagine. I knew without a doubt that God was answering my prayers and from that moment I have never doubted the truth of the message I now have the privilege to share. I am a Mormon because I want to help others to have the opportunity to return to live with their Father in Heaven again. That is the message we share and I know it is true.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is by giving of my time and my talents. Right now I am a missionary and it is so amazing. I have the opportunity, and privilege, to give of - basically my whole life - to simply serving others. I get to testify of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and of His Gospel and how I have seen the changes in my life, my families' lives, and others' lives as well, when the principles of that Gospel are applied. This is such a privilege. One of my favorite scriptures is in Matthew 5. It's when Christ says, "Ye are the light of the world." I just absolutely love that imagery. I have the opportunity to bring that light into people's lives by helping them both spiritually and physically. So that's how I live my faith: through serving God's children.
