Hi I'm Megan Walker

Idaho born and raised. I love to share the gospel, especially through my singing and the songs I write. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm your typical 19 year old girl. I love boys, music, and food. But honestly what I love most is my Savior Jesus Christ. One of the ways that I have shown my love for Him, is by writing a few original songs about what He means to me. Music is a way for me to share my emotions, as I'm sure it is for many people. I love the connection you can make with people as you sing to them. I play a little bit of the piano, ukulele, and guitar. Another thing I love to do it make friends. I would strive to smile at each person I passed in my high school hallways. Even though there were only about 200, I made a lot of new friends. I just love people. I also played soccer in high school. My coach would always make fun of me because girls soccer is usually a very aggressive sport, but I would be out talking and laughing with my competitors. I couldn't help it! People are so interesting. I love learning about where people come from and what they are passionate about. I like to think that I'm accepting of everyone. I hope that through me they can see the light of Christ and feel of His love for them. My favorite thing about being a Mormon is that we are so very focused on the family. I'm the baby of 5 children, with a loving Mom and Dad to lead us. I love my family SO much! We live our faith together, and speak openly to one another about our testimonies, but also about our questions and concerns about the gospel. We have a deep love for each other. I'm so glad I can be with them forever!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for so many reasons but they all add up to one thing. Being a Mormon makes me truly happy. If I am not living the standards, my heart feels empty and I feel farther away from my Heavenly Father and Savior. Through them I can find peace, hope, and pure joy. I know that the Savior suffered for us and died for us. Because of Him we can be washed clean from our sins, but also have someone there who truly understands us. Because of Him we can live with God again. We can find happiness in this life when nothing else seems to be going right. I know my Savior, Jesus Christ, lives. He once walked this earth and He taught us how to live. He did all those things out of love for us. I am a Mormon because I love my Savior. I have a personal relationship with Him and pray to my Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. I have no doubt in my mind that He knows me personally. My wants, my needs, my trials, my dreams, my worries. He sees the person I can become. Through little experiences, He has shown me my potential, but I know I can't become that person without His help. I would be lost, I would be nothing, without my Savior. I am not a Mormon because I have studied every aspect of our religion and find it to be completely logical. I am not a Mormon because the standards make me a better person. I am not a Mormon because of the blessings I get. I am a Mormon because I love my Savior. With Him, nothing else matters. I choose to follow Him because He is perfect. I follow the church's standards because I want to be more like Him, not because they tell me to. I study this gospel because He is the one who started it. I shed tears of happiness from the blessings I get because it shows me how much He loves me. My life is better because being a Mormon has brought me closer to my Savior.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by my daily choices. I choose to read the Book of Mormon and pray to my Heavenly Father each day. Because of that, I have a relationship with my Savior which causes me to want to be more like Him. I love to serve people around me in any way. A smile, a kind word, a helping hand. Isn't that what the Savior would do? That's the basis of the Mormon church. We're all trying to be more Christ-like. I have also made the decision to leave my family and friends for 18 months and share this wonderful gospel with the people of Madrid, Spain. I want them to feel of the Savior's love for them through my service to them. Another way I live my faith is by choosing to stand firm in my beliefs when the world around me is changing. I see how our standards are different from others, but that's why I like it. I know that I am growing closer to my Savior when I live the way He wants me to. But I also strive to be accepting of others and their beliefs, even though I may not believe the same things as them. I love to go to church, even if it is for 3 hours. Keeping the Sabbath Day holy is the best commandment, in my opinion. Why wouldn't we want a day of rest? It's wonderful! But for me to truly keep that day holy, I must go and worship my Savior in church. I partake of the sacrament to renew my baptismal covenants with him, and to become clean again. I then go to two more meetings where I learn from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. They teach me how I should live my life to become better. After church, I get to spend time with my wonderful family. Its my favorite day of the week. My favorite way to show my faith is through my music. I love to sing my testimony through my songs, whether it be one of my originals, or a hymn written by someone else. I always sing from my heart, and my heart is full of love for my Heavenly Father and Savior. If someone can feel something good inside when I'm singing, that is how I know I am doing God's will for me.
